I have no idea why. But I do have experience with some of the decision factors in choosing materials. My guess is is its one if two reasons:
1) because weve been doing it and we dont see a reason to change.
OR
2) some other factor unrelated to the material itself
Examples could be:
*the gun company owns another company specializing in the regular sort of nylon
*the regular nylon is LOCATED somewhere that makes it more convenient/cheaper
*supply chain issues make the glass-filled version somehow less reliable from a procurement perspective
*some material property other than strength that makes one vs the other better, more convenient, more tolerant of some condition, etc. (ie storage, temp during manufavture, etc.)
