N565/570 a legitimate RL26 replacement?

N570 hands down
N565 would be second.
N570 just shines in so many cartridges when given a chance.

I always say if you want to throw crack at a gun dump that case full of N570 and let's rip.
Agree with this - if you can find some 568, it would likely be just about perfect and you wouldnt have to worry about as much throat erosion with the 570

No concerns with barrel life or? Seems like most guys are running 1 or 2 over max and VVs data shows a compressed load at their max !

Like anything in life. If you want performance then expect trade offs. It does create more barrel heat because it has more energy. If you want top fuel dragster performance your going to burn the right stuff and deal with some extra wear on things.
I run it in 2 wild cat rifles as they are hunting guns. Barrel life is no concern because I shoot them very little and they will last a long time. It's also very stable for temps.

I run 568 in a wildcat 7-300 PRC and its loves it! Took a 300 PRC case and customized the reamer to 7mm with 225 freebore - 180 VLD's at 3008 - shoot about 120-140 rounds a year through it, strictly a hunting rifle.

I really like the N570 in my 6.5 PRC. I'm able to be a tad under max with the 156 Berger and get a 20 shot average of 2999.5 fps and a .30 mean radian.

Funny how dudes will say use r26 like it's on the shelf at every sporting goods store or available online ha. Had to order the n570 but it was worth it. H1000 shot ok but it was only 2825 or something really slow. Retumbo was horrible with the 156 gr.

Midway just sent out another round of “discontinued” notices for a bunch of the Reloder powders. I see them pop up from time to time still though, but they do sell out quick.

I prefer N565 for my 6.5 calibers. It works great in my PRC for 140-156 grain projectiles. I use N570 for my 28 Nosler but I really don't like it due to throat erosion, carbon buildup and the kernels don't meter well for me. They are yuge. If I could find some R33 I would buy it all as that was my go to for the 28. I might try some H1000.
For VV powders, the '5' designates a double based powder. The '1' is a single based powder. It's not as dirty or hot but you need a lot more to get the same velocity.
The Alliant powders definitely give you more velocity but that doesn't help when you can buy any.
