There’s a difference between disliking those four character traits and some of the vitriol that has come into this thread.

I am far from defending what he did/does, but it sure seems like a lot of stone throwing when I know all of us live in glass houses.

I think it’s like Rinella says, “when somebody is poking holes in the boat, you throw them out before you all sink”. He’s definitely not doing law abiding hunters any favors.

These piss poor punishments these poachers get is an embarrassment to the hunting community. How can we show the value of our natural resources when the court won't properly punish people for stealing it?
My guess is he offered them information in return for a reduced sentence. Think about it. Multiple violations and he got off easy. People bitch saying he didn't get enough, I think he snitched. They then put the leniency wording in there to cover their six.

Just because a man has enough money to buy a rifle capable of killing at long range by no means he can. Far to many animals wounded by so called great shots. It is never the arrow but always the Indian who decides life or death. This is also true as to who decides doing right from wrong. All is wasted time if this person can not admit his mistake.

I thought I read the maximum punishment for what he was charged with was a 3 year suspension. 22 months is not the max but it's not much more than what he got so I don't know how lenient they were.

After all it was only TWO times on the SAME RANCH and every batter gets THREE STRIKES right?

The "rumor mill" says this guys legal troubles are not over on other unrelated matters. All I have heard is unsubstantiated hearsay at this point. I would continue to watch him in the coming months. All I'm gonna say about that.

This bothers me to no end... a slap on the wrist.

“What you tolerate, you encourage.”

What really sucks is that there are a pile of good hunters out there who’d give anything for one of those kinda trips and wouldn’t consider doing any of the crap this stupid ass has done.

He or anyone like him gets ZERO mercy from me. Don’t even try the “we’re all in it together” bullschit.

Like hell...

We ARE all in it together, which is why we need to police ourselves and not cover up unacceptable behavior.

,
Thank you for your message. Mr. Van Woerkom, like other retailers, purchased inventory from us previously, and presumably he is selling through it. We have cut all affiliation with him and our product will soon be removed from his website.

Thank you for reaching out to us.

Thank you, onX Support
