Got the exact same message from OnX just now too. My only wonder is while not a "influencer" he's still selling OnX Memberships in his store so they still have some kind of relationship.

@coyotevalley_sniper So true. Although I had a feeling they were dogs when I was judging them before the shot. I just couldn't confirm for a fact with nothing on then confirming ownership. I wasn't about to take the chance of being wrong and letting them go with the colors they were. I was committed to taking the chance and I'm glad I did. Even if people think it was wrong or stupid.

I have commented a few times, and after reading the whole document I am more annoyed. I have said a couple times that he needs to come clean, own up to his mistakes, ect. Instead he is threatening everyone who posts with legal action, and deleting comments talking about it from instagram.
Reading the document that says he begged for leniency, that he has a young family and this is the only way he can support them... Are you effin high? Seriously that is your defense? You advertise for and sell OnX Maps. You purposely and knowingly trespassed for a stupid video. You have done this on multiple occasions and been caught, and they somehow let you off and said it wasn't a pattern. Unbelievable.

Hunting and wild game aren't a damn resource for you to use however you want to make yourself rich. You have no respect for the traditions of hunting, for the animals, and obviously zero respect for anyone else's rights to hunt the animals or rights to private property. I live down the street from your company, and have purchased form you in the past. It is now my personal mission to make sure no one I know buys anything from you ever again. Stop abusing hunting for your personal gain.

Apologize, come clean, admit your mistakes, and find a way to make it right, or you are going to wreck your business for you and the family and friends you have working with you. You can still change for the better and put this behind you, but trying to run and hide from it will do nothing.

I took a look at his IG. First of all, I would never follow this page on social media. The name alone is stupid. Anyway, he has 195,000 IG followers but many of his pics have only 1,000 likes or less. Top performing pics have 2-3,000 likes and most have less than 10 comments with many only have 2-3.
You telling me a dude with 200,000 followers only gets a 1% reach? For comparison, I looked at a pro skier’s IG Page who had 155,000 followers. Most of her pics have 10,000+ likes and 200-300 comments, which is what you would expect for that number of followers.

Conclusion: this guy paid money, and probably a good amount of it, to fluff his social media numbers with a spam account following. Pathetic. But then again, his brand name is Muley freak, so what did I expect?

That dude is everything wrong w/ hunting and how anyone on earth follows him or his YouTube is beyond me. I have heard of “Muley freak, had no idea what it was really until recently... and honestly... I question the morals of any company that has supported him... trespassing or not. What a stain on a great tradition. Those YouTube videos are a straight up disgrace.

I would guess most of the hunts this spring took part before the suspension was actually do to start; I thought I saw a start date of mid may 2019?

It went into effect in March of 2019, according to his sentencing.

I love that Poser is calling this dude out for being nothing more than a poser. Very rich, and very accurate.

There would be this outrage at the videos regardless. They are despicable—3 of them. Add in the intentional trespassing and pathetic plea for leniency and you have a disgusting human being with not a large following but some following in the hunting industry. Anger expressed here is well founded and I’m very pleased with guys taking the time to communicate with sponsors.

I don’t disagree with you about any of the things that he has done.

I didn't hate the guy before, his videos left a lot to be desired ethics and respect wise, but they made some cool shirts and hats that I bought.
It just rubbed me the wrong way, A. Representing UT hunters, and B. acting like he is above the law being in "the industry".

I didn't know anything about him till I listened to him on the Hunt Backcountry podcast a couple of years ago. Listening to him on that podcast left a pretty bad impression on me so I never followed any of his content. Now this thread comes up with some solid evidence against the guy and I know my initial impression was on. I hold no Ill will for the guy but I don't like the example he is setting as a representative of the industry and I do feel like he got off pretty easy considering the history. Hopefully he learns from it but his response so far hasn't been great.

I couldn't resist, I had to find the video you guys were talking about where the buck got backup and ran.
Crawling up to that rock without his rifle was just plain stupid, then boom and that buck gets drilled by another hunter, at least that deer look like it died fast. I'm also starting to think this guy hates backstraps given his chosen shot placement I've been seeing.
He loin jobs the buck then instead of staying on the gun to make sure it's down, he starts with the celebration and bro hugs and omg's......amateur! Then he "finishes it" with a shot smack dab in the middle of the ass. What really gets me to, is that he does not seem the least bit upset with his shooting abilities or lack of in his case. All that gun and no skill or talent to match it.
As has been mentioned in this thread, if you are an aspiring or new hunter do not look up to these types for guidance.

And the guy that builds his rifle builds tack drivers, I have one. No excuse for that kind of shooting.

There’s a difference between disliking those four character traits and some of the vitriol that has come into this thread.

I am far from defending what he did/does, but it sure seems like a lot of stone throwing when I know all of us live in glass houses.

Lol, nah. Looks like the mods cleaned up some of the off the rails comments. Muley freak can't police the entire internet when the information is public record. He's just gonna have to deal with consequences of what he's done.

Trespassing on purpose to shoot animals is a chicken shit move. Not a mistake. I’m not here to throw gas on his fire or pile on, but that should be a severe punishment from the fish and game side of things. And anyone still following him on the social media should be embarrassed.
