Toyota Tacoma. Truck goes everywhere and is small enough to turn around in tight spaces but still has a box to haul out your game or gear. I have had both Jeep and Toyota 2 jeeps and probably 7 Toyotas in the last 25 years. I will never own a Jeep again. Getting ready to sell a 2007 Tacoma to buy a 2016/18 tacoma.

RRRrrright... Kinda like that decade(+) long horrible frame rust problem with Tacomas that Toyota stuck their head in the sand over and totally ignored for years, just dealing with it as an extended recall...

Every time I drive by my local Toyota dealership they have a new stack of rusted frames out back from trucks deemed unsafe and not roadworthy.

I have 388,000 miles on my 98 Cherokee 4x4, still running strong and burns zero oil.

Toyota all the way 4runner 4 life here. Love my 4runner runs like a champ and handles the back roads with no issues. Never owned a Jeep but they have had a less then stellar history.

Definitely! ;-)

Taco's, Jeeps... take your pick, both can get the job done and neither is perfect.

But if you live in an area with salt on the roads in the winter, then pick the Jeep.

One thing you gotta give Toyota credit for is standing behind their product. They are replacing all those rusty frames after 10-12 years on the road. . I would be willing to bet most manufacturers wouldn’t stand behind a set of brakes for 15k miles. Let alone a $10,000 frame 12 years later and 150k miles.

Toyota.

Have a 77 FJ 40 I restored, tuff trucks. Trans are solid, diff are strong, birfields in place of u joints in the knuckles, king pins rather than ball joints etc.

personally for carrying gear and hunting buddies, I would look at a series 60 FJ with a 2f engine.

I 100% agree!

liking my 2015 Xterra Pro4X, with upgraded rear suspension, custom tire carrier rear bumper and baja rack on top.

does well for my AZ hunts. and can sleep in it if necessary with rear seats folded down. Even with my Teton cot.

Have the same rig; without all the mods - mine is just a 2015 stock pro4x. But I have been really impressed with it so far. Has gotten me back into places that I know my previous rig wouldn't have made it. And like you said - you can sleep in it if necessary. Probably a very over-looked vehicle by many, and they stopped making them - but I like it!
