Im still more in than out at this point. Can you confirm a sight in range? How many targets? Rounds one should expect to use? Just a month into the initial announcement so wondering how things are planning out.
Looks like we'll have 6-8 guys, which will be a good number. The course kept growing over the last month, with more stations and targets added, so it's going to be a full day. Justin and I walked the course not long ago, mostly to discuss how to approach each station and how to more closely approximate hunting scenarios we've encountered. What we came up with is on more stations you'll only get a single shot per target. I expect it will take at 6-8 hrs to get through.
The goal for me with the course is to focus on time from spotting a target to putting an impact on it, improvising needed position. As such, most stations we'll approach as a group identify targets (gentleman's rule, no ranging target until you are up to shoot) and return to a holding area. Shooter will cross a "gate" or RO will say go to start your time depending on the station, from there it is a lot of choose your own adventure on how and where you shoot from.
There are around ~50 different targets varying target sizes (prairie dog to elk vital size)/shapes/color patterns. Ranges vary from 50 yards to 700ish, I was able to add more in the middle ranges (250-500yards) this year.
20 rounds will be needed for the hunter drill -

Minimum 60 rounds for the 19 course stations.
I would dedicate 100 rounds to the course, if guys get antsy with single shots we can adjust the rules as we go.
There is certainly a place to check and zero rifles if needed, either day before or morning of.
