"Mountain Rifle Challenge " 2026 May 2nd

I know it’s another thing but it would be interesting to track first round hit percentage.
I had commented that my mindset was definitely different than hunting with no miss penalty. It was get the hits as fast as possible so that’s what I tried to do and just rapidly followed up if needed. If only getting 1/2 point or a time penalty for a follow up shot I’d have shot slower.

There is a sweet spot for speed vs hits with the points/time scoring system. Last year it was points based on first round hits with time stopped when you fired. For someone that doesn't shoot a lot my style seems to land in the sweet spot.

I suggested a stage idea to consider for next time that would be a 1pt stage with a primary target and a secondary one, if you missed the primary you had Xsecs (very little time) to pivot and shoot the secondary target instead like a brief chance on a wounded animal type vibe. So it would reward first round proficiency but back of the mind pressure to be ready to rapidly try to get that other target if you missed.

I think like hunting we’ll make the 1st shot count more as we go forward, just a little trickier for score keepers.
I wish I knew how to program….but I had the thought out there of an app that you could:

-set up stages and scoring/time beforehand
-load shooters
-select stage during event
-select shooter
-hit start clock (or countdown) in the app
-hit button for hit/miss
-it auto scores realtime and sums for each shooter (maybe even with a digital leaderboard).

Would be cool because it would produce some interesting data on shot times, hit %, etc. in reality would be easy to make with a bit of skill or $$.

If anyone knows anyone, I’m a willing and able business partner ;).

Looks like fun guys!

What went wrong with the Seekins?
Uncertain as of now. I haven't gotten it out to really look at it but the bolt would not close on a live round. It'll go about all the way up but can't drop the bolt handle down. Happen suddenly, no gradually getting stiff or anything. After the stage hereinaz got it to finally close by beating on it a bit and thought I was good but then the next stage it wouldn't close again no matter the amount of force applied. Would close and dry fire on empty.

Did you have different ammo to try with or even different pieces of the same ammo? Maybe there’s some carbon chunks on the shoulder?

tried different ammo, top feeding and from magazine, didn't matter. Could be carbon chunks that fell down from suppressor? Haven't gotten an opportunity to really examine it yet.

I was thinking of a stage where you have multiple targets (maybe like 5 or 6) that get progressively further away and smaller but all shot from the same spot (might have to build a second position for some shots). Miss once or time ends and the stage is over for you. Really rewards those guys that are fast and accurate.
