I get the poop in the morning. 20 minute drive to private piece, 2 hour drive to 'big woods'. Step out of the truck and that cool wind hits the back of the neck. A quick shiver, then the countdown is on.

I now get made fun of for how much consistent I am.

The pre hunt poop is a real thing for me. I've tried to prep for it or avoid it but it always seems to creep up on me. Super annoying if it hits you once you have all your gear on.

I’ve had anxiety issues for years. And while you may joke about it this is something I suffer with as well.

Early mornings and anxiety for me do not go hand and hand. I can’t eat and I sip on coke or ginger ale to call my stomach down.

But if I get up at say 6 or 7 I don’t have the same issue. I’m still anxious but not as bad

I take a pre-hunt shit. Almost every time I pull up somewhere and get outta the truck. Even if I took one before I left.
Me too!!! Like a lab before a hunt! Big dump followed by a lot of scratching off in the gravel and by God! Ready to hunt!!!

I had a hunt where i was getting sick in the morning. Took a couple days before I attributed it to being a passenger in the truck as we went the switchbaked highway. Also sleeping at 6000 feet and hunting at 10k with only an hour drive probably didn't help much either.

OP: Any chance you're getting carbon monoxide poisoning from a propane heater of some kind, or even the rig you are driving to get to your hunting spot?

I used to have a hunting buddy who swore he would throw up every morning of a hunt. And therefore he refused to eat breakfast because he was going to lose it all anyways. He was older than me and had a lot more hunting experience than I did. I thought he was just crazy lol.

Well it seems this year during waterfowl season I have developed a similar habit. In the wee hours of the morning it will sneak up on me like a mac truck. There I am hands on the knees, in front of the truck, hacking and gagging so ferociously that tears will start welling up in my eyes. After all the demons are released from my body, my buddies will usually say "what the **** is wrong with you" or "what did you drink last night". I will feel completely relieved and ready to hunt!

I have tried eating better the night before a hunt or changing my morning meal to something easier on my stomach but nothing has helped. It almost feels like I want to know the outcome of the hunt so bad that I will work myself into a tizzy. Maybe some relaxing breathing techniques would help. hahaha

This is most likely a symptom of my own mind. But has anyone had a similar experience or know anyone who deals with this?
Glad I'm not the only one

Maybe lack of sleep/fatigue? I know if I have a rough night's sleep or little to no sleep at all, I'll be nauseated as hell for several hours once getting up

I had undiagnosed GERD that caused me to vomit in the mornings with increasing frequency until it became debilitating. Once in the morning became twice, then three times, then one day I vomited every 20 minutes all day and ended up taking myself to ER at 6pm for fluids and some kind of relief.

First noticed it when I had hot tea in the morning. It didn't happen every time, but often enough that I gave up morning tea and it temporarily improved.

It started to happen regularly when I was extremely tired going to bed and got worse as time went by. I have to drive a couple hours in either direction to hunt or fish and that means getting up extra early and coming home very late, usually exhausted from 4 or more hours on the road and a full day on the water or in the woods.

My gastro told me that the valve at the bottom of my esophagus was leaking slightly, not enough to create the sensation of reflux, but enough to irritate the esophagus and cause the vomiting reaction. Said it was likely exacerbated by extreme fatigue. I was told surgery was a last resort and may or may not fix the issue.

I take a 20mg famotidine every night before bed and that controls it. It returns predictably if/when I miss my evening meds and don't take a famotidine.

I’m lucky if I even make it to my parking spot.
