Holy **** you guys get sidetracked in a hurry-

This is great news. Always nice to have new options, if done right đź‘Ť

Instead of asking a ton of questions...

1) What's the test procedure involve?

2) Can someone provide a design summary on function, robustness, and safety?
Sorry to leave you hanging, and I'll ASSume I understand the questions.

1) Testing procedure we've established so far (subject to additions):
101 round cycle test with the mags that are shipping with the gun.
-17 cycles of the 3 round mag, 10 of the 5 round.

10 round 100 yard accuracy test with details on the round used.
We use a Silver Mountain G3 system, and we save the strings with the rifle serial number/load
The pics I posted a while back were from the first test barreled action. I was actually at .9" until bonering the 9th round. Shot 10 landed back in the .9" group. That was a 108 yards, and our new shoot room will be 115 yards from the current target backstop.

We proof test all guns, measure cocking piece travel during safety engagement, firing pin protrusion, set/measure trigger weight, coating mil thickness measured... ect. The design has been tested to and exceeds SAAMI/ANSI Z299.5 Abusive Mishandling Standards. We've done test firing at sub zero temps, and one test rifle ate 5 boxes of proof rounds with no measurable distortion when I broke it down. I've done intentional case head blowouts to ensure the action handles gas properly and protects the shooter. Some day, in my free time, I'm going to intentionally squib a barrel and try to blow an action up while filming with our high speed camera. If it still doesn't blow, I'll load some some rounds up with flash powder and just detonate it.

2) I'll try come up with an abbreviated summary. It may take me a bit to skim it down.

@Imac45acp Will Montana Rifle Company have a production (or even pre-production) sample of this rifle at any of the hunting & shooting shows; perhaps Western Hunting Summit? I'd like to be able to handle one and run a magazine or two of dummy cartridges through it like my life depends on it.
Yessir! We'll have some at Western Hunt Expo in Salt Lake in February. Hopefully by then it will actually be in production. I've also got a few .375 H&H to get done and ready for Dallas Safari Club Atlanta and SCI Nashville.

Yes. Its not that Starbucks is “good”, it’s that everything else on the road sucks. I prefer quality French press above all else, though good Turkish coffee, pour overs, etc etc, are all fine choices. The key is that it is coffee- that means real cream and sugar. Black “coffee” isn’t coffee- it’s black bean water.

Finding good coffee while traveling is nigh impossible, so it’s Starbucks desert drink- one must slum with the peasants at times.
I’m honestly questioning everything else you’ve ever said after that monstrosity above.

Tell you what, I certainly did not have Form being a girl on my 2024 bingo card. Do we have any recorded instances of Form calling it "pumpkin spice" season instead of "hunting season"?

Ian, this is excellent. Thank you, sir.

1) So the 2022 retains the C-ring or collar? And it looks like the bolt shroud still acts as a baffle?

I'll wait for your reply to 2) before I ask any more questions.

Thanks,

Jason

The fishnets should’ve been a dead giveaway, honestly. And the light recoiling rifles. Geez how did we not see it.

Wow. This is incredibly detailed, and well written. (That doesn't mean that I understand everything you have written above, as perhaps evidenced by my following question.)

The bold text sounds like you will use a handload. If correct, would you consider a factory load?
  • Maybe there's a poll and RS votes for the dedicated factory load per caliber. (BH 77 TMK, 147 eld-m, whatever.)
  • Purchasers could also - if you are willing - send you the factory ammo (ideally directly from an ammo company).
  • These need not be mutually exclusive options, and if it causes additional time on your part, add an optional fee.
Thanks for the additional information.

I can answer these. No, they will be proofed with common factory ammo. (Edit) or an extremely common load that will stated what it is.

MRC is not a custom shop, and that’s not realistic anyways. This is a factory, off the shelf rifle; the point isn’t that each person gets to get every wish they want- it’s to show that the rifle is built and assembled correctly, and that without fuss it shoots correctly. What you are asking for is a true custom from a smith that offers that if you want- and you will pay heavily for it.
