Over the years having to measure a lot of bear and cougars. I had the idea from a shoe store to build a giant bear skull scoring jig.
I cut a set of oak blocks and put them on runners like a big wooden shoe size gizmo. With a ruler implanted into the bottom it was dead nuts accurate and anyone could put the skull in close the blocks read the number! Then put in sideways to get the zygomatic arch measure.
Wish I had the skill to have made it in stainless with a digital readout. But I'm not a very good metal fabricator. So I settled for oak!
