McMillan Mountain Tracker LR - Tikka T3 Dev Project

How are folks liking this stock? Debating this or the Manners LRH-TK

I like mine a lot, have a manners eh1 also. But the McMillan comes with arca rail, flush pic rail, and flush cups already installed. Manners comes with a front sling stud. So LR tracker seems easier and has the negative come which took some getting used to but I like. I don’t think you can go wrong with either but the LR tracker comes ready to go. I’m not a fan of buying an expensive stock and before being able to shoot it having to add flush cups, pic & arca rail myself. But I’m sure manners will add all this for extra $ and no doubt the extra work would add a couple months/weeks to your order I’m sure.

I like mine for flat work.

The only thing off I still notice that I haven't gotten used to compared to other rifles I shoot is the huge grip.

Some of us have all of our fingers......

Just kidding man! The grips on my mcmillans are a bit bigger for sure. It took a while to get used to the little ridge under the trigger as well. I don't think they offer this stock with the option of having that ridge or not.

Does anyone have a picture of one of these with a D18 barrel profile but with a lite or superlite barrel on it? I'm curious about how much additional float that would give.

I have a 3b stock inlet with the factory tikka lite profile: I really wouldn’t want to go smaller. Plus it leaves options for new barrels in the future without worrying if they will fit or not

Has anyone had experience with both the standard Mountain Tracker and the LR? Which one did you like better? Why might someone choose the LR over the standard?

Also if anyone has a picture of their roughtech wearing one of these I'd love to see it. Thanks!

The LR stock geometry is better in a crucial dimension (pad height over bore) and the standard geometry is by contrast an objectively poor design for recoil control (pad sunken under the bore with a Monte Carlo cheek riser).

I appreciate the prompt response. I think I'm leaning towards picking up an LR. It sounds like the better stock overall.

Is there any issue in getting a barrel channel inletted for a larger profile, like a sendero, and then putting a D18 in? Trying not to pigeon hole myself if I decide to throw a proof on my roughtech.
