McMillan Mountain Tracker LR - Tikka T3 Dev Project

Mofo'r those stocks look good. I hadn't planned on another tikka build this year, but I guess why not. Good on McMillan for a new concept and bringing it to consumers in a timely manner. Doesn't sound like any quality issues as well.
Take my money 💰

I’m kind of in the same boat. My tikka wears an ag composite. Always loved it but damn this thing is sexy and I’d love to support McMillan.

Here she is mocked up. Ran into a snag unfortunately. I had requested a CTR bottom metal inlet, but it clearly is inletted for the more narrow regular T3x bottom metal/plastic. Will reach out to McMillan to see what to do about it as I'm not going to go sanding away at home to make it fit.

I like the 10 round CTR mags for 223, but I suppose I could buy an aftermarket bottom metal and use the regular 223 mags. First world problem for sure haha.

HEC Slate arrived - a bit more grey toned compared to their photo, but I like it. I’ll get it bolted together in a few hours.

Damn! I should have went with slate! That looks freakin sweet! The only reason I didn’t was the light grey looked almost white in their photos but after seeing this yea it is definitely more grey which I really like

Here is mine. My paint color is the HLS Camo: Dark Pine

One thing I did notice is that with the Mountain Tactical Medium Raptor mount, I have to really get down on the stock to get a good sight picture. I may have to swap it out for a set of UM Medium or even High rings. I like the Raptor mounts, but I am not paying $250 for a High set.

As for the trigger reach, by my inaccurate measurement using a tape measure and eyeballing it, I came out at right at 2", but it feels perfect for me. That being said, I have longer fingers and don't really have a problem with the Stocky's stocks either.IMG_3658.jpg

Is trigger reach on these the same as their m700 pattern stocks?

My rem700 Mcmillan ELR Hunter is 1.75"
This stock with a tikka about 1.875"
Rem700 Manners eh1 is also 1.875"

I have smedium hands and this is about maximum comfortable length
The XLR Element was awesome at 1.5". But have never seen a stock that short.

This thread is going to cost me.. I just submitted all my options on their website. How long do you think it will take to get one if I pay next week?

Edit: I want to go with Molded In Desert Banded Carbon

I thought someone mentioned this earlier in the thread - the first batch was rushed out and subsequent orders would be more along 4+ months.

What’s with the little bump at the top of the grip? Does that get in the way or is it supposed to help with something?

It's a stupid mcmillan thing intended to put your hand in the same place every time.

I hate it and it should go away.
It does get in the way when grabbing a fistful of gun while manuevering

Just got mine. Weighs 30.3oz HEC Paint. Ordered with a carbon sednero channel and fill for a 300WSM. I understand that depending on what cartridge you tell them you will use it for they will make the fill a little more dense and make the stock heavier.

They add material around the recoil lug only

I don’t notice it at all. My KRG bravo has a similar grip, also never noticed it.

This keeps being stated, but the Bravo and these McMillan grips are not the same. The nub is one difference, but the angle and the trigger reach are also quite different.

This is quite a bit different-

Than this-

I am one of the people (like everyone else I have shot with), that despises the nub and gap.

I believe they changed the CTR bottom metals at some point. My T3X bottom metal was slightly bigger than the inlet in my father in laws factory CTR stock he gave me. It fit but it was super tight.
