McGowan tikka contours

Probably going to order a 6 creed from McGowan unless preferred has an equivalent Black Friday sale.

What contour is everyone ordering from McGowan? If I were to go with pbb I’d get the tikka lite contour I imagine.

I’m thinking I may not even thread the barrel. I won’t be running suppressed and with the creed I likely won’t put a brake on it either. It’ll save a few dollars not threading as well.

Planning to build a semi light rifle, not needing it to be 4 pounds though. Do I want to get the lightest contour? Or step up to something like the McGowan #2 or #3?

This will be my first prefit so I’m open to any suggestions.

Also debating between a 20-24”. With nothing hanging off the front should I just go 24”? Or enjoy the compactness of a 20”?

Thanks.

I ordered a blank from them and had my gunsmith chamber it 243win 8tw barrel.
I did a #3 Mcgowen contour. If I did it again I would go #2. Mine is 22” no muzzle device. It’s a shooter.
Hope that helps good luck.

What did yours weigh?

Debating mcgowan 1 or 2 or Tikka sporter contour (I think they'll do it as a custom). Don't want it threaded

Mcgowen will do custom contours as well. I had them match PBB's tikka light hybrid contour which allows for 5/8 threading. 18" fluted came out to 2 lbs exactly

I did not happen to weigh mine when I got it, but they post that their #3 with a 26” barrel is 3.5lbs. So probably under 3 or more at 22” that I ordered.
I think if putting it in a tikka sporter contour barrel channel, then get a tikka contour. If you have room a #2 I imagine would fit with some opening up for the shank. Someone on here had them cut it back an inch on the shank I thought that was a good idea.
