Maven Spotting Scopes

I always thought the point of an internet forum was to serve as a place where like minded people could share and receive information. So, that's what I did. On this particular topic (one of VERY few), I have something to share. Take it or leave it.

I, personally, would appreciate knowing that there's a 2k scope that can compete very favorably, on optical test data (objective, 3rd party, not just an individual's opinion), with much more expensive options. Having made a good call with Maven binos may lend a little credibility to my claims but that's for each person to evaluate on their own.

I'm not, however, going to spend much effort defending myself against the Sacred Cow Society. It really doesn't make much difference to me as I'm not associated with the company and certainly haven't "pushed" anything.

Realistically, if I was going to show all my cards, I'd have done it already. The entitlement tone of this thread will make me reconsider sharing anything in the future.

Yeah but it has always been a big benefit to post your first hand knowledge not 2nd or 3rd hand, this is so that other's can make a decision based off of valid experiences. That's all and why people wanted to see the data you deem so valid yet will not let the rest see. I'm sure in the next few months we'll start to see some reviews released. Maven should hire you :)

Seems like the knowledge that Maven was releasing a $2k spotter is pretty well understood but the rest is just hearsay, for now. But if people start posting 2nd and 3rd hand information about any product it reduces the knowledge to be gained by all especially if it turns out to not be true.

First I don't know what a sacred cow is, second have you actually even looked through this thing? Do you have data to share at least or did someone( his name or credentials may help) just tell you the scope scored similarly? Maybe saying what categories it compares in would also help.

And what's the shit about showing all your cards??? Then what are you still holding??

I also cannot find the independent testing for the binos? Does anybody know where those are?

Lastly the only entitlement in this thread is the want for claims that you made to be substantiated by more then a guy told you... Not really to much to ask for in my opinion.

That is one aesthetic looking spotting scope! Have to admit it looks cooler than my Swaro ATX but I will make my judgement after looking through it, not just at it!! Nice work Maven for putting this together. Whats the weight and is there mutiple objective sizes?

I do not remember the weight, but the objective size was 80mm.
It was a nice scope, I also look forward to Matt's review. I recently took a look at one he did on the Kowa and Swarovski in 2013 that had a good comparison. Hopefully its similar.

Took a quick look at it today. Good looking scope. Matt's review will be awesome I'm sure, and will have good comparison data.

From the guys at Maven; March release, ~4lbs, 65 mm is in the future, ~$2100.00 for standard color.

I have a question, these look remarkably similar to the Brunton Epoch scopes, especially when I looked at them at the Expo last week. Maven using that technology since Brunton got out of the optics game? Just an observation. I have an Epoch spotter and the similarities just really struck me.

I don't think that's a coincidence. I remember hearing when Maven was getting into the business that the guys in charge were high up in Brunton when they decided to close the optics line.

The Maven spotter is supposed to be coming out this week. Anyone had a chance to get their hands on it other than at a show?

They look like this:

Should start detailed comparisons in the next couple weeks. Article to follow. Not sure on timeline yet. I have a stack of optics to get to.
