Maven Spotting Scopes

Good point. Kind of pricey for japanese glass then.

Edit: the msrp on the razor is 2k also...

I don't know anywhere that the razor is more then 1599, not sure why the vortex site says that.

The maven will cost 2100 ish because they don't use dealers.

Real world you can get a razor for around 1300-1400 and the maven will probably 2k I'd imagine. Either way it better be damn good to compete at that price.

Those scopes look interesting. I'd like to see Maven come out with a 15x bino. Has anyone heard of any plans for one?

Yes, Maven has indicated they have a 15x bino in the works. Thought I heard they were shooting to have it out this summer after they get the spotter out. They were focusing on the spotter first.

Early 3rd party objective testing (not final, production testing) indicates that the Maven scope will be in rare air. Better than anything Swaro, equal to a specific Leica and also Kowa scopes which retail in the nearly $4k range.

^^^^ I'm calling BS on this one. "Better than anything Swaro". I just was looking through these and there is no way they are better than the ATX. Close and on par, yes, but not better. It's a Bruton remake.

Dude, I'm a big fan of Maven, but I think that's a bit to much. How about we see some non-bias testing before too much Koolaid is drank.

I did mention that it was based on 3rd party testing, though not final from what I was told.

Believe what you wish, objective data is objective data though there is likely room for personal taste and, as always, brand allegiance/marketing effects.

Nope, haven't seen the data, only been told what it showed.

I would imagine that Maven will make it available when the time is appropriate. When killing a sacred cow, you'd better be able to prove it...

What Kowa is 4k plus?? you can get the prominar 88 for 2500-2700

If it is better than an ATX I would be amazed and since it offers no options as to objective or power it starts with a big handicap. It would need noticeably better color fidelity and resolution while flattening the field. If it shares the same technology as the binoculars I have tried the spotter won't even be close in any respect. I'd buy Meopta 10x42 HD's long before the 11x? Mavens I used.

I guess my skepticism is that we are getting one of the first spotters to review . So a unnamed 3rd party is worthless and just hype.

I was told that the model which is optically similar to the Maven scope is around $3800, not sure if that's just MSRP or not.

Look, I have no reason to lie about anything I'm passing along. Believe it, or don't. I don't give a damn. I'm no optics expert, just relaying information from a source who does know.

Without the actual source it doesn't hold much weight... Not trying to be a dick but statements like that will need more then " I heard from a guy"

Outdoor life called the terra the binocular of the year and couple years ago.

I'd need to see the source before I believed the hype.

So you have a relationship with Maven? You were the first to really push their binos and now the spotter and keep saying you have 3rd party info that Maven has given. Why keep passing on second hand info and not just wait for actual reviews. To me it is hard to listen to your koolaid.

If your not associated how do you get your info? Just hard to believe as when any new stuff comes out there always seems to be someone pushing it hard that isn't associated, these kind of views make me dismiss what is said. Like Ryan said, Matt will hopefully review it and he'll do a great job of identifying its pros and cons, more so then just stating it is better based on unpublished 3rd party reviews endorsed by Maven.

Your source must be from Maven? Right?

I always thought the point of an internet forum was to serve as a place where like minded people could share and receive information. So, that's what I did. On this particular topic (one of VERY few), I have something to share. Take it or leave it.

I, personally, would appreciate knowing that there's a 2k scope that can compete very favorably, on optical test data (objective, 3rd party, not just an individual's opinion), with much more expensive options. Having made a good call with Maven binos may lend a little credibility to my claims but that's for each person to evaluate on their own.

I'm not, however, going to spend much effort defending myself against the Sacred Cow Society. It really doesn't make much difference to me as I'm not associated with the company and certainly haven't "pushed" anything.

Realistically, if I was going to show all my cards, I'd have done it already. The entitlement tone of this thread will make me reconsider sharing anything in the future.
