Physical interference is what you are saying?
Yes the aggressive knurling of the turret catching and always rubbing on the tight fitting cover I THINK was making it turn when the cover would get moved around either from setting my pack down or going through trees.

How about turret that doesn't have aggressive knurling? Maven makes a good product,. What is the impedance to features that don't shoot a product in the bunghole. Simply pass a drop test that others can't, which they've done and you'll make gold as long as byproduct doesn't shoot you in the foot.

I have never had an elevation turret on a NF or Tenmile scope spin on me unintentionally. I have had the windage turret on my NXS move a few clicks after going in and out of a scabbard. It went in and out a few times before I noticed, so not sure exactly when it happened.

How the turret was when I pulled it out of the truck today-

Swapped the turrets between the Maven and the Trijicon Tenmile-

The Maven RS1.2 with the Tenmile turret takes at least twice the pressure dragging on things to spin it. The Tenmile with Maven turret catches about twice as easy on things as it does with its own turret.

The Trijicon Tenmile’s turrets take more force to spin then the Maven RS1.2, however just getting rid of the 20lpi checking on the Maven makes it significantly more resistant to spinning; and putting the Maven turret in the Trijicon makes it easier to spin from friction.

Smaller ID on the Trijicon I suppose.
If it was a directly swappable part Id probably try to get one from Trijicon to put on the Maven

As it is, switching a 10MIL turret to be 8MILs is not in my skillset ha

Seems like a decent application for some tape…

I've had various manufacturers dials change while carried. I do think the knurling on the Maven may contribute a bit, but I like the design. I could live with it or live without it but would keep it rather than lose it. I often check dial settings when hunting. I usually set the hard stop at a 100 yard zero and the dial's 0 at 200. Often when checking I don't do it visually, I'll just dial down to the stop, then count clicks back to 0 or leave it at the hard stop depending on terrain. It's almost a given I'll do it at first light and dusk.

I was actually thinking about this a couple of days ago. I do a fair amount of Olympic lifting and different bar manufacturers have noticeable differences in knurling on the bars. There's pros/cons and different lifters prefer different aggressiveness in the knurling. I was thinking that it was impressive that Maven had such a finish on the dial and power ring.

On hunts I usually hand carry my gun so it isn’t as big of an issue and I regularly check for RTZ while backpacking. It hasn’t caused a big game animal miss yet.

It’s only an issue for me with daily shooting use in and out of vehicles and bouncing around with other gear. With this I’m still normally good to remember to check RTZ and the zero stop is an excellent feature. The coyote miss frustrated me enough to see if it was just me having the issue.

I’ve started being better about standing them up and wedging between the driver and passenger seats and the rear seats. When I do this it’s less likely to have turned itself.

I’m still planning on filing down the knurling but it’s relieving to see other heavy field users having the same issue, thought maybe I was doing something to aggravate it.

I suppose a person could use something to clean the turret really well then put a bead of silicone or caulk over the texture part.
