Have a thousand to spend what the best consistent shooting rifle, I don’t mind weight so a heavy barrel I feel is a must short Action or long action don’t really matter thanks for the input

Can get tikka roughtechs for $1100 is about the closest i can think of with a little heavier contour barrel. Maybe a used CTR?

Edit to add: Used Sako s20 possibly too. I think eurooptic has them for $1200ish new now.

CZ 600 range? Sauer 100 of your desired flavor?
Lots of folks like ruger american lineup for budget minded rifles and they do have some with heavier barrel contours.

I have felt the tikka and its smooth as **** but the barrel profile is thin as **** just about all of them beside super varmint and new ace series

The lite barrels are thin but they shoot plenty well, just not as easy to shoot tight being light weight. CTR, tactical, roughtech/veil (non-superlite models), UPR, varmint, super varmint, sporter, Tac A1, and ACE series all differing degrees of heavier contours.

$1k for a mint shape varmint is a fair price.

Cabela's is clearing out Savage 110 Tacticals... 6.5 CREED heavy barrel, threaded, fully adjustable cheek and length of pull. They tend to shoot lights out. AICS mags and 20 MOA EGW multislot rail. all for around $500. No idea how you could go wrong with that.

Same gun in FDE color not on clearance available in 6 Creed $850. Still a great buy IMO.

Oh my no wonder the price drop

Yeah they have some sex appeal with their cerakote and finishes but it stops there.

For the money anything Tikka will be the best money spent. Tikkas are future proof as well. If you decide you wanna rebarrel it, you can do it in your garage with the right tools.
