Thank you. Why the PRC in your opinion.
You can get a little more velocity/energy from the 6.5 PRC over the 6.5 CM, while still maintaining very manageable recoil. Use a break or suppressor and it is a real pleasure to shoot. If you are interested in using it for hunting, I would go with the PRC. The 270 WSM is an awesome cartridge as well.

Is suppressor hunting legal in Washington State?

I'm surprised 6CM is more available than 7-08. if so I will look into it.
I just did a quick search at Sportsmans, and I stand corrected. Theres 10 different loads of 7-08 and 7 for the 6 Creed. That hasnt been the case for the last year at least. I had a hell of a time finding 7-08 ammo since the scandimic and was easily finding ammo for the Creed. I'm still gonna swap my 7-08 barrel to a 6 creed though.

I use a .270 for my son. He shot his cow elk and blacktail about a month apart when he was 13 (he barely broke 100# then). A readily available cartridge that is time tested, shoots fast and flat, and can be found in a variety of riles.

A Ruger American scoped package, Savage Axis scoped package or Winchester XPR scoped package in 6.5 Creedmoor. Great availability of ammo from 100gr - 150gr+ takes care of everything he'd ever hunt and he could find the ammo almost anywhere.

I posted pretty early on this thread. I finally got my 6mm Creedmoor setup. It weighs about 8-8.5#. Had the kids shoot at 100yds and 400yds. Still think it’s to much gun for the 10y/o and for sure the 8 y/o. They shot well but it was crazy to see how much the recoil still moved them. My 15 y/o daughter shot it well. Wish I would have gone the howa mini 6mm arc route instead.
