Problem is a 360 bh won’t clean up a 30-30 chamber. Needs a new barrel to do it right.

I saw they released a take down version now. I'm tempted.

I think I'd get it in 460 just because I suppress everything and I have a 46 cal suppressor. And no one makes a 50 cal suppressor without rating it for 50bmg and it being way to big.

A 460 with a 18 inch barrel and fiber front sight will be my next rifle.

Just a heads up, if you buy a bighorn and go to shoot factory ammo.. re crimp the rounds. They are meant to be shot out of a revolver so once you start loading up a full tube magazine they can push the bullets into the cases of some factory rounds

Just got to Maine with my 45/70 trapper for bear.

After a total of about an hour on the stand, I have Two more does down with my 45/70 XLR. First one ran about 75 yards and the second dropped on the spot (I don’t have a photo of the second).

That’s just flies, she went down in a cow pasture with lots of flies around.

And it’s good on them as far as I can comfortably hit them, which with this gun is probably 200ish yards

This is my Winchester 94 30-30 that was passed down to me from my grandpa. It’s a 1955 model and it had a weaver 1.5 power mounted on it but I’ve since removed it because the side mount is just an awkward sob.
I’ve taken several deer with it including my first buck. I still carry this gun on drive days now, I t’s so light and handy.

I put a pearsons tac rail on mine (from 1952) and mounted a little vortex scout scope ahead of the ejection port. It works well and is no-drill so you won't have to do anything permanent.

I didn’t start using lever guns until my Dad was in his last couple years of life suffering from both cancer and end-stage renal failure. Dad was a .30-30 fan and I always poo-pooed on it calling it his turdy-turdy. I was always a bolt fan.

His last year of life, I listened to him and bought a Henry Big Boy carbine in .357 to plink with. I had no idea what I had been missing. I’ve since owned a couple more as they are super fun.

The deer season after Dad passed, I took Dad’s Marlin 30-30 to his favorite spot to hunt. I wanted to reminisce all the memories hunting with Dad. It was foggy and drizzling that morning with low visibility. The reminiscing was quickly interrupted 30 minutes into the hunt when a nice buck came in chasing a doe. One shot with Dad’s gun and it was over. It was such a surreal experience that I have to think the Lord and Dad had a hand in it.

Here’s to Dad educating me on lever actions and to wishing he was there with me this season to hunt with his lever action.
