My dad handed me a bow when I was 2 years old. I haven’t put it down since. I chase muleys, coues and elk around the mountains with my bow as often as I can. I am a SFC in the US Army and I am a Colorado native, I have snow in my veins and sand in my boots. I do what I can, because I can; if I don't, who will? .... Right is not a matter of perspective; it is a choice all have to make, from their point of view and hope it matches the point of our Maker. The world needs people like me; without, the world would be victim to all who claim it. I wear armor every day. I have smelled death, and will never take life by choice. If you have not yet picked a side, you better get with it. I like animals; a lot of them taste good. Freedom is bought with blood. Freedom is the right of all men; free will is a part of all men. Freedom of speech I support; freedom to burn a flag I support. It was the blood of a soldier that secured that right; the same flag will lay upon my coffin. You’re welcome

47 Dad and husband, blue collar chemical worker. Mid life finds me with more vacation, a bit more disposable income and a burning desire for a backcounty archery elk hunt. So, this was the logical place to start. I've never hunted in the backcountry DIY style, I live in West Virginia so, elk aren't readily accesable. I've got a high camp coming from Kifaru this week =-). I'm gathering gear and info, please be patient I'll have lots of stupid questions. Lifelong hunter and occasional backpacker, I've just never put the two together.

Just started hunting last year, pronghorn and elk. Got the former, saw the latter, hope to have better luck this year.
