I stumbled onto this scope doing some research and had no idea it even existed. There is so much conflicting info out there - cant even find the 3-18x on the Leica US website, B&H shows it as a new release on Jan 4th, Scopelist, Optics Planet, and Euro Optic show it as backordered like they have already been selling them.

Weights are all over the place, I see 13.7 - 23.6 listed on the 3-18x44. Lengths from 11.8-12.5" on the 3-18x44 model. Pictures of the 3-18x44 model with an exposed turret and a capped turret. I found one set of pictures on one of the dealer sites with an exposed turret and a BDC style reticle.

Just a mess of info that I cant really figure out what's what?

Does anyone have one of these or has anyone else dug in and done some research? I have no experience with Leica scopes (have 2 rangefinders), not sure how good they are, but an exposed turret, capped windage, illuminated reticle in MOA for less than 25oz would be something I would interested in.

Anyone have real world experience on the 3-18 x 44? Actual weight, tracking, return to zero, glass clarity... etc?

Actual weight is 23 ounces with the battery, mine has tracked flawlessly. Eye box and glass are amazing. IMO it was built to compete with the Leupold VX-6hd and it beats it in every way possible.

How do you like the reticle? It looks busy in the online photos. Are the lines thick enough for use in cluttered backgrounds (trees, grass, shadows...etc) I've used standard Plex and BDC reticles up this point... and I assume the MOA tree will take some time to get used to. What has been your experience? Thank you.

I found the same inconsistences on info while researching the Amplus too. Turned me away for the time being.

It’s busier than I would have made, but yes it’s thick enough for dark backgrounds. The illuminated dot is probably the best feature of the reticle- it’s as fine of a dot as I’ve seen in a reticle.

Also, this thing is COMPACT. I don’t know actual length but I’d be surprised if it’s even 12” long.
