Good afternoon everyone,
I thought I would post as I am thinking about running a leg holster for my XDS. I have done a little bit of searching but haven't really found anything that seemed to be brush appropriate.

Does anyone have any recommendations or good/bad experiences they could pass along?

I appreciate any input :)

Leg/thigh rigs are a pain in the ass on long hikes. Or a pain in the thigh / crotch / taint.

If you just want to drop your gun down below your belt lone look for a safari land UBL and the right mounting hardware. That will clear a pack belt and is pretty stiff for a draw. No leg strap and no tie down on your thigh.

I agree with the above, I'd research a drop down with some offset rather than a leg rig.

I ran one for a couple years while hunting. SKD HSGI UDHP (yes, that is the name of it, google it). This IMO is the only one that is semi-comfortable. The trick with leg rigs is to get them as high as possible. That usually means that the strap is going to be very, VERY, close to the family jewels, and WILL pinch you every now and then. However, if drop leg is your only option, this is the best one I found.

To make it worse, this is only a 'platform'. You have to supply a holster body yourself (Safariland, Blackhawk, etc.).

ETA: I have since gone to a HPG Kit Bag. Much better for my circumstances.

I had the same problem (same gun too) & someone suggested a Dafariland ALS holster with a drop mount.
This is how it fits me, with a pack....

It has just enough offset that it'll easily clear a heavy jacket & hip belt, but it's still tight enough to not snag & catch.
I have the tension screw just snug enough that it takes a good tug to unholster the gun, meaning that there's zero chance if it dropping or bouncing out.
It's a cheap, light solution that I'm more than happy with.
I tried a thigh rig out & after only 3 miles on a hike, I have it away. It chafed, it caused localised sweating that was really uncomfortable & kinda was very aware that I was wearing it. This rig is super comfy & after a half hour of wearing it, I completely forget it's there.

I currently have a HPG Kit bag, but sometimes I don't run it and was thinking a leg rig would keep my pistol handy. I thought about mounting it on my hip belt, but I usually run a gun bearer.

Thanks for the replies everyone, I will look around and see what I can make work best. :D

g-code for sure or safariland if you want a drop with highest amount of retention.

Do not use a leg/thigh rig if you are hiking around in mountains. I watched guys over several trips to Afghanistan try them for pistols, ammo, med pouches, etc and none of them did it more than once on a long patrol.

^^^^ this.

One day in and you will have enough chaffing to start a Forrest fire in your inner thigh. But man you will look cool.

I've been rocking the G-code leg rig for my XDM and couldn't ask for more. I have no chaffing or rubbing and its quiet and easily accessible at all times with a pack on, even when sitting or kneeling. The only downfall is sometimes it makes my pants want to sag but most my hunting pants have suspenders built in plus using a belt it works fine. They take a while to get them shipped out so order way ahead of time but its worth the wait. Really can't say enough about this set up
