Last minute suppressor vote

So, it looks to me if this goes through, I can get a Suppressor in CA? I know CA will fight this, however they will lose, it seems. I’d love to get a suppressor!!!
The following states where suppressors are already illegal: California, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, and Rhode Island.

Does anyone know how long it will take to just buy one over the counter? If everything passes going forward.

So, are we looking at 3 months, 6 months? How long until we can just buy one OTC?

Right now I am trying to decide on getting a muzzle brake or waiting to see if suppressors become OTC because I am NOT paying the tax stamp crap and dealing with all of that paperwork nonsense.

Right now you can get whatever you want and be done in less than 48 hours. My last one was 23 hours. I have plenty of cans right now, but if anyone out there doesn't have one but wants one for this coming season my advice would be to go pay your $200 right now and get your suppressor in a few days. The paperwork is stupid simple if your shop does their own e-forms. Takes 5 minutes and they'll tell you exactly what to do. My 3 year old could do it if needed.

Shooting unsuppressed is un-civilized. Argue all you want but I guarantee you if you get one you'll think the exact same way.

Edit to add: I say that about going and forfeiting $200 right now because if this all passes it will be very hard to get the one you want for quite some time I'd believe, putting this hunting season in jeopardy.

I have killed countless animals and made it 40 years without using one. I am pretty sure I can wait. I'm not subjecting myself to the man's reckless joy tax to own something that (in my opinion) looks a bit ridiculous on the end of any gun.....but I might buy one from Walmart if they become available.

Just my uncivilized opinion. lol

I've never ever heard a person say they regret getting one. Seems like a guy in CA would want to lock in as soon as possible before state legislature blocks. But idk, if they're already restricted there will this even make a difference?

"This morning, the U.S. House of Representatives passed President Trump's One, Big, Beautiful Bill, which includes the complete removal of suppressors from the NFA. This represents a monumental victory for Second Amendment rights, eliminating burdensome regulations on the purchase of critical hearing protection devices. The NRA thanks the House members who supported this bill and urges its swift passage in the U.S. Senate."

Could removing suppressors from NFA make them legal in all states, even California where they are illegal?

CHAPTER 9. Silencers [33410 - 33415]

( Chapter 9 added by Stats. 2010, Ch. 711, Sec. 6. )

33410.

Any person, firm, or corporation who within this state possesses a silencer is guilty of a felony and upon conviction thereof shall be punished by imprisonment pursuant to subdivision (h) of Section 1170 or by a fine not to exceed ten thousand dollars ($10,000), or by both that fine and imprisonment.

So...no

It’s good to see republicans getting crafty. They’ve got us begging them to increase the debt by trillions in exchange for cheaper gun mufflers. 🙄
I was thinking something similar. I’m all for the changes. But I also ask myself, “if I’m getting something I want, what am I giving up in return?”

Can this legislation reverse this, possibly?

i don’t think so…after the President signs it, California state legislature could rescind that part of statute. I would talk to someone with CRPA. Actually they are a good organization to join and support. Looks like they are taking action now:

If this passes the senate I wonder if class 1 sot will be able to sell them or if they need to be class 3 sot still?
Class 3 are for NFA items so in theory any gun store should be able to sell them. I haven’t read the actual bill so this is just my best guess.

Possibly.....of course. Even if it could it will run through courts for at least a decade.

The reality is with the magazines, handgun roster, 10 day waiting period, etc, etc even the cases that were "won" other than concealed carry, none have been realized after years with stays during appeal. The 9th circuit is no friend of 2A.

I wouldn't get your hopes up. You can't even have wood burning fireplaces and combustion lawnmowers. 🤣

I haven’t seen any discussion of the byrd rule/byrd bath, which is likely to stop this in its tracks. I’ll snap up a can or seven if this passes, but if was a betting man I’d say the parliamentarian will see this as a policy goal not a fiscal one
