Last minute suppressor vote

Fairly quickly yes, but I also bet current inventories get sucked out super fast. Could be a suppressor desert in the market for a few months.
Glad I don't need another. Plenty of time to wait for the market to get saturated and see them for on sale for a few hundred $$.

Just for fun, has anyone looked at prices in other countries to predict what will happen to prices based off places where suppressors are OTC accessories? Right now, here in the US, they are priced right with higher end factory rifles/scopes. Based on, say, Europe, can we predict where prices will land in relation to other rifle accessories?

Talk about timing the market, Unknown is about ready to make a killing.

Manufacturers trying to keep up with demand is going to be interesting to watch. Hopefully more tooling can be brought online quickly!
If this thing goes I’m betting the waitlists are going to go crazy waiting to buy one. Powder, primer shortages??? Ha!!!

I’ll bet the manufacturers will be cautious just like the ammunition manufacturers were in tooling up for demand. Don’t want to get overly deep and have the market catch up too fast and force layoffs and manufacturing investments sit idle. The outdoor industry is still reeling from overly enthusiastic ramp ups during Covid.

The Brits have quite a few different brands for various calibers sold on the web. Seems like $400-500 for the better ones. According to American Hunter article, most rifles in Britain are threaded for moderators (suppressors). They like their 22s and .243s from what was written in the article.

so negative saying it won't happen and when it does, back to other negativity in the same line of text. must be exhausting...
I hope it slides right through the senate. I’d be willing to eat a pile of crow killed with a wall full of suppressed everything I own but Washington has rarely failed to piss me off. It just seems like such a small bone to throw us after sweeping the elections. Full repeal of the NFA was the idea. We gave them the power to really shake things up with a lame duck Trump. And calling my CO senators won’t do a thing to help. Perhaps that leaves me feeling helpless and bitter. I hate this state.

The senate may change the bill some, then the house and senate will hash out the final verbiage, so things may change . But the way I read it now is they are taking them out of the NFA & no tax.

But silencers are defined as a firearm by the ATF. So you need a manufacturers FFL, and they need to be sold/background checked through a gun shop that has an FFL. I would think this will make prices higher than countries that don't have these rules. And somewhat limit the number of companies that start making them.

What could very well shake out is a lot more gun manufacturers, that already have the correct FFL & manufacturing capabilities, will come out with silencers/package guns with cans on them/integral barrels etc.

Does anyone know how long it will take to just buy one over the counter? If everything passes going forward.

So, are we looking at 3 months, 6 months? How long until we can just buy one OTC?

Right now I am trying to decide on getting a muzzle brake or waiting to see if suppressors become OTC because I am NOT paying the tax stamp crap and dealing with all of that paperwork nonsense.

Wondering the same. Changing my residency to PA from NJ tomorrow and would hold out on getting one based on the timeline

There will probably be quite the wait time for things to get back in stock afterwards as well.

Getting a degree in engineering “educated” me to look for failure. I was negative to begin with. My physician friends are much more negative than engineers!! I am usually right and when I’m wrong, like it looks like suppressors I am delighted!!!! : ) : ). In this case ecstatic!

So, it looks to me if this goes through, I can get a Suppressor in CA? I know CA will fight this, however they will lose, it seems. I’d love to get a suppressor!!!
