Kuiu’s rifle cover is a copycat design

What’s the line for people mad about this? Are you OK with basically every company ripping off of TAG bags in the last 10 years? What about every company coming out with a bino harness? You’re basically saying no new companies are allowed to enter the market unless they invent something new. Look too hard at who’s “copying” who and you’ll run out of companies to buy from very quick.

I really like a full length cover when carrying my rifle on the ATV on dusty roads.
I’ve always just used an full padded zip up rifle cover on atv.

I can see the utility of these type of cover for open country backpack hunts. I can’t imagine using one for some of the thick timber whitetail hunting I do

Huge difference in making a SIMILAR product and a direct copycat. Zero integrity in the latter, while there’s room for innovation in the former. Especially bad given Tim was a partner of theirs.

Well TAB Gear made the first cordura rifle cover and actually makes it out of 1000D cordura that holds up to sharp edges of optics and muzzles and has padding for both. It’s also made in the USA and not some chinesium factory.

So, they all copied TAB and did a shitty job apparently.

I checked them out being intrigued by your post. But have to say no way people want to carry around a heavier cover with 4 buckles to deal with in the heat of the moment. The solo cover is rapid fast and light, I beat mine to death in all conditions and they last me about 4 seasons then replace.

I’d like to by an all American made one without the buckles if there is any out there.

Several people have listed differences between the two covers, so certainly not a direct copy.

Is HK the only company that can sell polymer pistols as they where the first? Or, perhaps Colt is the only company that can sell revolvers? Should only GE be able to sell lightbulbs?

Competition is part of a free market. Patents are to encourage people to share their ideas specifically so others can copy them at expiration.

I ordered one too, and just sent it back. I felt it was too tight on my Tikka with the suppressor. It was just long enough, but it does not go on & off that easy IMO. I also run a suppressor cover/wrap, and with the cover on the suppressor the diameter of the muzzle opening on the rifle cover was too small.

I just noticed that my Darntough socks are an exact copy of the smart wool socks I got from REI. They also bear an uncanny resemblance to every f-ing sock I’ve ever owned! You would think that they would at least credit Jeremiah Saak, who invented the sock in Amsterdam around 1692.

I am jumping on the bandwagon too!!, all the 2023 new vehicles have 4 tires on them, the nerve of the automanufacturers to keep putting out these vehicles with 4 tires!!! and most of them have two headlights as well!! why doesn't someone just make a car with one big ass headlight in the middle of the grill!!!

This is no different than the 100 different optic companies making the exact same product from the same factory. What a baby dude. He has always annoyed me in his videos "if I lose another deer to these damn cameras"... Seriously bro listen to yourself

Let's open this back up and see if we can have an adult conversation.

I own/owned two Solo hntr rifle covers(the lighter weight version), one muley freak rifle cover, which the Kuiu cover looks like, and another, I think it's from midway, don't remember. All have ripped on the butt or the muzzle end. This tells me there is room for improvement. So if Kuiu's fixed these problem areas, I could care less if it looks like other companies. Yes, I know solo hntr made an upgraded version, but it's more money and weighs more.

Somebody made the first glove, backpack, muzzle brake, bino harness...... Then someone thought they could do it better, cheaper, or faster.....
I completely agree, about everything is a knockoff these days, any product in any industry… no getting around it.

I have always been interested in this type of cover, I have a rapid rifle cover right now that I have used for a few years, overall I like it, but if it’s raining all day, it doesn’t do a good job of keeping water out of my scope, it will at least fog.

I like the idea of a waterproof full cover, I don’t care who did it first, I care who does it best. I try to mostly avoid kuiu products, but if they make the best product, I’m buying it.

I’m not brand loyal, that concept makes no sense to me, they certainly aren’t loyal to me, so I buy stuff that fits my needs the best from whatever company that makes it.

My biggest favoritism I have is 2 similar products, if there are 2 equal products, and one is made in America, I will go that route and happily spend the extra dough, but besides that, the best product wins for me… everything is a knockoff to some extent.

The 4 tires thing is annoying, everyone does it and nobody seems to care!

Eh, while president Brandon is at the helm, 2 extra tires and diesel is simply a status symbol , it’s like the new age BMW… I was thinking more something along these lines View attachment 485707
Really guy- we break down the rules of how we'd like to separate the unnecessary political commentary out of threads but here you are holding the stick trying to find some shit to stir again. Consider this the final cordial warning.

Nothing wrong with competition and nothing wrong with legally copying something. So much belly aching it’s unreal. If you care so much about something you created or own, yet are so naive to think you don’t need a copyright or patent protection, you have no business being in business. It’s a cutthroat industry. Typically it’s because you are to cheap to pay for that added protection.

I own a fair amount of Kuiu gear along with several other brands. I also own the SoloHuntr cover. When I saw Kuiu‘s I was excited that it might be a better version of what I already have. Maybe lighter, more water resistant to name a few. I however did not buy one but knew my friend had. To me, it’s a disappointment. It’s lighter but seemed to wet out a lot earlier than the SoloHuntr and was no where near as durable or abrasion resistant . No reason for me to jump ship.

I can only hope Sitka or Stone Glacier makes one next.

Point taken, and well played warning me about the forum rules while breaking the forum rules
