I like the pattern and as others said, it is pretty good stuff. That being said, I personally do not like they way they do business.
And when I don't like the way a company does business I will go with a company that does good business.

Randy

I always hear this. What exactly does everyone not like about how Kuiu does business? I'm curious because it seems like they have a damn good business model that is killing it? I didn't start buying Kuiu until this year mainly because I listened to all the haters here. Went with First Lite and had just as many problems with inventory not being in stock. Everyone complains about Kuiu's athletic fit, but all the First Lite pieces I bought felt like they were tailored for some hipster who wears skinny jeans and has never seen a weight room. Once I finally got some Kuiu gear I wondered what took so long. I LOVE their Attack Pants and Tiburon pants/shorts. Merino tops in 2xl fit great and actually have enough length for a tall guy. Their gloves are good. Haven't messed with their jackets as I have First Lite and Kryptek jackets that work fine.

Thanks for all the info.
The camo patterns are my least important part of any gear. Fit is always #1.
I have First Lite base layer and Kanab pants. I am looking for a clothing that is made to move in!
Even at home here in WEstern PA, I like to still hunt combined with tree stand. I have a pair of Prana pants and love em, but they are my camping pants. If you guys are telling me Kuiu is similar in fit and comfort, I think I will like.

I agree that First Lite really contributes to conservation of our Back Country. Are you guys saying Kuiu does not...?

Thanks for all the info!

I have a fair stack of kuiu gear and I am pleased with it. It is fit for purpose. They may be out of stock for some stuff at times but so are most busy businesses. Everyone going on about how good first light is. They won't even ship out of North America which is pretty rude I think. I wanted to buy some of their gear but they wouldn't sell it to me. What kind of business is that? Haha

I've been wearing kuiu from the beginning and have a good collection of their gear...the gear is top notch but not the only option in town. I mix items all the time from Sitka, first lite, kuiu and no name brand stuff. It is of an athletic fit and you do need to plan in advance as things will sell out and not in stock for months to come but that is the nature that sells well. Enjoy your gear if purchased.

Just read every single post here .... hot n cold personally but I think KUIU is "trying" They cannot even begin to mask that they are catering to "sheep hunters" and "elite hunters" and hunters that have capabilities that I left behind 15 to 20 years ago - For my limited experience FIT has kind of been all over the place - I recently made a comment here about consumer attentiveness at the SCI show and quickly received a personal message from one of the KUIU guys inviting me to contact him directly anytime I felt the need - The KUIU stuff I have is top quality for sure and there has obviously been much thought put into design and detail - the zip off UW bottoms are pure genius - What really originated my interest in KUIU was the story about where KUIU came from after the Sitka Gear debacle with Jason, a story that I could relate to so I sympathized with - Now, I'm just waiting for the GQ article on today's ultimate 'KUIU MAN".... In closing, if you want to protect yourself from inclement weather I see Sitka Gear in the picture - I good number of fishing guides that I know use and swear by it

i have quite a bit of Kuiu gear and most of it performs well and I have no complaints. But I mix and match with others brands that work the best for specific applications. I'm not loyal to any specific brand, but rather wear what functions the best regardless of political stance, business models or advertising strategies. I have been disappointed with their synthetic base layer due to odor problems which has been their only miss that I have experienced. But that said their synthetic peloton 240 hoody is fantastic. While their attack pant are well reviewed, I like their tiburon and other manufactures mountaineering soft shells pants better. Their rain gear is fantastic and have all three models as a result.

Unlike others, not a fan of first lite and will not buy anymore of their gear. I found their base layers itchy and uncomfortable; the worst of any merino wool product I have tried and had a miserable trip because of it. Lesson learned on my part.. Not sure what happened there but I'm not a supporter of their kool aid.

What do you think of Kuiu merino wool? Any less itchy? My last time I tried their merino wool it seemed fairly itchy.

I'm a huge fan of FL but love my Kuiu stuff as well, just have not invested enough time in their merino wool to determine if I like it or not.

Haven't had issues with their ultra stuff merino, find it comfortable and not too itchy at all. Their initial merino circa 2012, I think it was 145 series was a bit more itchy next to skin, but nothing like the FL stuff.

Kuiu gets a really bad rap for some stuff they did not only on this forum but to customers on other forums, including their own, and people didn't like the way Jason carried himself in certain areas. Couple that with Jason and Aron having issues and most guys especially who have dealt with Aron personally are going to jump to his defense. Honestly their behaviors earned what they got, but it's gotten a bit out of control with members that no matter what will trash talk them, most without any actual experience in the matter.

Everyone can think what they want but they make damn fine clothes, and if you deny it your lying.

They make 4 things that I will probably never be without
1. Chugach, I believe it's the best rain gear out there, especially for durability, light weight and price.
2.Gaiters. Again best out there, I doubt most people would disagree.
3. Tiburon pants, for a guy who hunts in 90+ degree weather these pants were life changers.
4. The grand daddy of them all the attack pants. Arguably the BEST pair of hunting pants and my favorite pair of everyday pants ever made. If First lite could figure out how to make pants fit the corrugate guides would be a tuff contender.

The 1st generation merino had itch. The Ultra merino has zero itch. The solid colors are softer than the camo printed. Very comfortable.

I'm sure earlier on it was bad but my experience has been the exact opposite.Super fast shipping.. The issue some run into is expecting pieces to be in stock and ship fast when we are near hunting season. I don't blame them or any company for that matter being slow or out of inventory near the busy months, but to some that's unacceptable. No difference than having to explain to customers that I cant just slap new strings on a bow two days before opening day. On average I'll buy a few items and from time of purchase to shipping it's roughly a 24 hour delay, nothing major, no different than my experiences with First Lite.

See I don't have a clue about what Jason did here or to Aron. At this point that is in the past and I could care less about the drama. I just like that Kuiu gear is actually priced fair, and fits me and works great. The 4 pieces of gear you listed are actually my 4 favorites from Kuiu too. The Chugach is awesome. Just picked up the gaiters and wish I hadn't wasted money on other gaiters. Living in Vegas and hunting the Southwest, the Tiburon pants are a game changer. And the Attack pants are just awesome.

At least it "was" easy to google a good part of the KUIU vs. Sitka story (but nobody ever hears "the rest of the story" anyway) I have not seen any problem at all with KUIU's shipping that doesn't happen to everyone now and then
I am gonna have to take a look at the Attack pants now ..... and I've read enough stellar reviews on their gators to want a pair now too although the Sitka's worked pretty darn good on both of last year's hunts (can a guy have "too much" gear ??)

I haven't hunted them yet but picked up some attack pants and they fit me very well (6' 175-180lb), stretch well, and I'm looking forward to testing out the hip venting (why hasn't this taken off in others lines???, does kuiu that feature patented or something?). I picked up a pair of peleton gloves and a teton zip shirt as well that look like they'll suit my needs nicely. Rest of my stuff is mix/matched including firstlite (rain layers), etc.

On the pants front I've got/had a pair of sitka ascents, c4e switchback, cabelas microtex, cabelas rainswede. The sitka have a decent fit (for me) too but are a bit more baggy in the legs and also lack the vent feature but otherwise are solid. The others (for me) are looser in the legs than I need. Fit is king as noted. Bummer for those with larger legs or such if they were interested in the kuiu features but there are lots of other camo companies that make looser legs if that is what is needed, I'm used to stuff being overly baggy and I'm looking forward to running these attacks for a change (I'd like to try on the corrugate pants at some point as well).
