Some great constructive valid criticism without being nasty. I think the point here is Kuiu is not the only one making quality clothes that perform, and you have to decide if you want to support them. For their stance on conservation I think they are better than neutral, or anti hunting companies ( sfw thing is an exception). I can't think of a possible excuse for the tent design. Pack frames I'm sorry carbon is either working or broke can't trust it.

1) Living in CO it is hard to justify camo rain gear, so I wish they still offered Chugach in solids so I could give it a try.

The Sitka Dewpoint is like 40% lighter thaqn the Kuiu and comes with pit zips.

Weight
13.58 oz. ; Large
Features
2-Way Stretch
Pit-Zips
Two Hand Pockets
Technology
Micro Taped Seams
DWR Finish
Fabric Details
GORE-TEX® Fabric

It's 40% lighter because it's 40% shorter... Sitka's length is a joke and won't come close to working for me. Too bad, because I've heard good things about their rain gear and some of their jackets. The only other option I am considering is the Marmot Precip as they started offering it in tall.

Me thinks you exaggerate...I'm 6' and it fits me like a glove.

Co, check this out: Raingear | lukesultralite.com

Luke is extremely helpful, he makes all these jackets and can customize them however you want; length, pit zips, chest size, pockets whatever. He uses Event which is arguably the group leader for rain gear.

I don't have this jacket but I've order a puffy from him and he was extremely accommodating, I actually sent him my body measurements and he made it to spec. Affordable as well considering its hand sewn. I bet you would get out the door under 280.

Two archery elk seasons in NW AZ during monsoon season made me a believer. Rains so hard they flood the streets in two minutes. If only this jacket were lightning proof.

I have tried all the rain jackets offered by the major hunting companies minus kryptek and the Dewpoint is my favorite by far. In the real world it breathes the best by far imo.

Does the Dewpont pack good and small? I am looking for something to keep in my pack
Any less expensive options out there that are packable dry and quiet?
$600 for a rain suite is a bit steep for me. I have some other gear I want to get too.

Ya it gets pretty dang small, quite not so much. I don't consider any rain gear besides the Sitka downpour series quite, although it's super heavy and not packable at all.

If you want to go cheaper you could look at Kuiu Teton or Kryptek Poseidon. I own the Poseidon set. I found it for around $140 for the set. It packs down small and is light. It's the older version. The Teton jacket weighs 8.1 oz. So it is super light. Not sure on the Poseidon specs. Most rain gear will be pretty loud, but if you're wearing it while it's raining it's not much of a concern. You could also look at the Core4element or the Sylo rain gear they sell on Camofire. They have a brushed finish so they are quieter, but I own the Core4 Torrent and it doesn't pack down as small as the Poseidon.

I love those August SE AZ flashfloods!

Until I get stuck behind a low water crossing when I'm almost back to the highway and have to make a 2-hour detour and make it back to Tucson after midnight :(

I was looking at the Kuiu Teton Rain gear. That is more my price range.

I have it. When I first saw it come out and saw the specs, I was not interested. However, when I realized it is a 3 layer for the weight, my gut told it would be an awesome jacket for what I needed. Simply, a reliable, light weight jacket for "just in case" - Breathability for just in case was not my first concern although it breaths very well.

Well, it is all that - I have had to use it about 6x and 3x being nasty weather. The other 3x just steady, hardy rain. It has worked perfectly. For the purpose, it is a fantastic jacket and the weight is just sick or a 3 layer jacket. It has a purpose and does it well, IMHO

Good to hear. I also have a set of the Teton that I bought this last winter to use as a backup for my Chugach NX, and I've yet to use it. Kind of funny reading this post because I just had it out last night looking at it (first time since I bought it), and was thinking about how well it was going to work for my next Kodiak hunt in Oct. I'm sure I'll have plenty of opportunity to try it out. :)

That is exactly what I am looking for. A nice packable "just in case" rain gear.
Do you guys typically get the pants too, or just jacket. ??
