?? Kuiu ??

Oh, it's just a matter of time before we see hunting ads with man buns. I suppose the condrum for man bunnies is that no one can see your man bun if you are wearing your flat bill. Could be a future market in Mtn Ops flat bill visors, though

I must be one of the few that hasn't had any itch problems out of first lite merino. I've even worn a few of the shirts straight out of the pack to test them out. Far as base layers there's no other I'll buy. I'd buy more of the outer layers probably if I could catch them in stock more often, but to me that speaks volumes about people's preferences when it's hard to find a pair of pants in stock.

Thanks for all the reviews guys.
Is their shipping slow??

If it's a pre order or an OOS item, you will for sure wait a bit. I ordered out of stock gaters and waited a month. But it was in the off season so it didn't matter how long it took. If it's in stock, I get my orders plenty fast. But I only live a short drive from Dixon. If it's not in stock, I'll usually just swing down and check the showroom... That can get expensive... I've not needed something and it not show up on time.

Okay I have gotten used to flat brims, skinny jeans, they cant be comfortable, compression socks?! Man buns!!??? NO man buns I gotta draw the line some where!! I can see it now, some dude in flip flops a scraggly beard a man bun and a Kifaru pack headed to the backcountry! Actually if you got the stones for a man bun go for it.:D

I like Kuiu clothes. But, like a lot of the guys on here, I mix a lot. Base layers, honestly, I usually pick up at REI or similar. They're usually a bit cheaper, and work very well. I use Kuiu Yukon rain gear, it works great. But I mix a lot of Outdoor Research stuff in with my stuff. Sure, its not camo, but you can usually get it in browns and greens or grays, and it is awesome stuff! (Kinda biased, I used to test gear for them) Just my 2 cents...

Forget the politics they make great gear at a great price point and it will suit you well on your moose hunt. Good luck!

hunting 2013 019.jpgIdaho hipster movement? That is funny stuff. Now, Avery will give me crap cause he says that this is a "pink" shirt. Well, whatever-----about every kill photo that I have---well I am wearing this original Idaho hipster shirt. Oh yeah, all this talk about Kuiu and firstlite (one company I will support) but check out day one camouflage----home of the pink shirt.

Same here. Love outdoor research stuff. It's my wife and Is go to for outer wear.

They make 4 things that I will probably never be without
1. Chugach, I believe it's the best rain gear out there, especially for durability, light weight and price.
2.Gaiters. Again best out there, I doubt most people would disagree.
3. Tiburon pants, for a guy who hunts in 90+ degree weather these pants were life changers.
4. The grand daddy of them all the attack pants. Arguably the BEST pair of hunting pants and my favorite pair of everyday pants ever made. If First lite could figure out how to make pants fit the corrugate guides would be a tuff contender.

1) Living in CO it is hard to justify camo rain gear, so I wish they still offered Chugach in solids so I could give it a try.
2) Agreed, although I do want to try the new FL Bramblers.
3) Agreed, and I also like the Tiburon gloves as a tough warm weather glove. No one makes anything that competes.
4) I have the opposite opinion. As someone who naturally has huge legs I think the Corrugates fit perfectly and wish I could get Kuiu pants that fit so I could see what everyone raves about. Maybe I should try the Alpines because I have read that they fit large, but I had to open up the sides on the Tib pants to even get them on.

As far as the reasons I will exhaust all other options before I shop Kuiu, it is some of the things that Jason has said and done. Releasing inferior products without making it right with their customers (first gen tents and backpacks). As an aerospace engineer I can tell you that there are some major issues in the pack frame design not being properly reinforced, but let's face it the average hunter probably doesn't get it over 100lbs but once a year if they're lucky but more realistically once every couple years for which it will be good enough. Blatantly ripping off tent designs from Big Sky International. Lastly, which I am willing to write off as ignorance as Jason has back-peddled some, is the statements in support of Sportsman for Fish & Wildlife and it's founder Don Peay whom advocates for the land transfer and against public lands. You can read all about the last part here: Kuiu & Sportsman Fish Wildlife (SFW)

A complaint I had in the past was a problem with the Kuiu business model being that it was online only and you would sit on backorder for months only to get a jacket or pants that had off sizing and it doesn't fit. They have been better with stock recently so it isn't so much of an issue anymore. However, if you ask someone that has a lot of Kuiu I can guarantee that they have at least 3 different sizes depending on item to get it all to fit.

"Idaho hipster hunting movement" You guys are brutal. The only things we make that could fall under the hipster banner are the flat brim the 5 panel, Which i realize is a little hipster but still a great tech hunting hat, breathable, foldable, dries fast and the small guide pants. The smalls definitely taper a little more than the rest of the sizes, that being said having flappy pant legs leads to noise and snags so a little taper is a good thing. As a side note of the 13 people in the office only one owns skinny jeans and he gets a lot of grief, Allie does not count. KC

I love my 5 panel hat although I wish the brim would hold a curve; it doesn't keep me from trying though. I bend it every time I put it on and I don't look like a 'bro' for at least 5 minutes.

As far as hipster cut, don't know where that came from as I wish some things were cut more slim, although the Kanabs are so tight in the thighs that I can't even lift my foot off the ground. The Vapor and Cirrus in XL fit my chest/shoulders great, but have quite the beer belly cut. Same goes for the Chama QZ and puffy vest in L. As a reference the Uncompaghre in L fits like it was made for me.

I think the corrugates fit great except the calfs and ankles are freaking tiny.

Admittedly I only own attacks that were made in Canada and the fit may have changed, I know it did from Canada guide jacket to Chinese version.

I really like most of the stuff Kuiu and First lite puts out, but their sizing is terrible throughout their line, I don't think I've seen a worse representation of true to size, even for their own brand then those 2 companies. Not a single thing fits the same. If you read the labels on my gear room clothes you would think 3 different people use it.

Exactly why I choose not to support kuiu anymore.

I received a pair of Teton pants and a Chinook soft shell jacket yesterday in the mail. I picked them up off the clasifides to try out.
I will say, this clothes are super comfy and look like they are top quality. The jacket might be a tad too big, but it is a outer layer, so some layers underneath should fill the void. Pants fir great. I think more comfy than my FL Kanabs. I am excited to get them out in the field for some real testing this fall in Canada and white tail hunting at home.
I am going to order the Kuiu gaiters and an insulation layer to complete the "New" gear for this year.
