I'll buy the jacket because it actually fills a gap and I don't want to buy Sitka or First Lite for various reasons.

I expect this out of the industry, but I'm really looking forward to the next company that actually does something innovative instead of throw out a fleece product that their competitors have had out for 10 years to capture market share in the group that wears their camo pattern, when people under 35 are increasingly just wearing solids and eschewing camo hunting clothes.

I am also intrigued. Although I have a closet full of whitetail stand hunting I am not sure how this will fit. My concern is the face of the fabric attracting all sorts of burrs and beggars lice. That stuff can be nightmarish in places where I hunt.

I hate that stuff I have spent hours picking that crap off of my pants…

Wasn’t the founder once quoted as saying “Kuiu will never make a whitetail line”?
Yea, but unfortunately he is no longer making decisions.
I think they were selling themselves short by not getting into that market to a certain degree.

I will probably get some of the pants and ditch my sitka fanatic bibs, just because I would rather have the pants. I am kind of interested to see if sitka puts vents in their stratus pant next year, they would have been great had they had zips. I used to have them, but have just used the fanatic bib and opened the vents which makes them way more versatile.

I just received the proximity jacket and fleece hat. I really like it and am going to wear it this year. I did not plan on buying anything else this year but I clearly have a problem….

I bought the Sitka stratus pants and full zip bibs, fanatic hoodie and midi jacket earlier this summer. I was planning on just wearing that this year but now have another horse in the race.

Im just guessing at this point, but think the kuiu stuff may end up being a touch warmer depending on how well it cuts the wind. Im going to use the axis hybrid pant in conjunction with the proximity line along with the 260 fleece hoodie (both of which I already had).

Im super excited about both of my set ups (Sitka and kuiu) and am sure both will be great.

As for the proximity I thought it was really quiet. If you rub the material firmly it makes some noise. I practiced drawing back and it was dead quiet. I got the XL and it is a little tighter in the shoulders than the Sitka stratus jacket but the material has some stretch to it. I don’t see it binding up and having trouble drawing even when layered up. (I did practice drawing after putting on a base long sleeve and the strong fleece 260).

I really like it and am gonna have a tough time deciding between the stratus and proximity.

After some use time will tell but both sets with the combos I have I think are gonna get me through my season. I honestly can’t say which system I will like better.

For what I’m looking for out of good, better and best; I know the Sitka stratus is in the best category. I think the kuiu proximity maybe in the best category as well for me. This is based on my preference for the type of hunting I do. Thx

Is there a small chance it packs up kinda decent. I know it’s not going to be like my down but if it’s close I may try it

My Kuiu proximity jacket and pants came in today, not as insulated as the fanatic line, or incinerator, but definitely a step in the right direction. It stays with kuiu's more athletic fit, not overly baggy/bulky, has a nice amount of stretch and mobility, as well as being a very quiet material, so it will be a great setup for archery. At the $650 price point for both jacket and pants vs sitka incinerator line at $1300 and fanatic at $900, it is a much better bang for buck.

I also had room to layer under so i'd imagine on late December/January hunts this system can be used to stay nice and warm.

Bring on the cold!

Here is our KUIU Proximity Review as promised. Just a quick down & dirty comparison guide. We will have a much more in depth review once we can get in the woods with it... Still 100 degrees here unfortunately haha

We've got the raffle up for the complete set in our Facebook Group

My first thought when I saw this was DuckCamp has a fleece jacket and Bibs that seem very similar. Unfortunately the spec info on their site is lacking so you can't compare weights or much else.
Personally if it was a bib I may have bit on this.
I also notice they don't have a temp range on the website as most other apparel does with kuiu.
I suspect this is a mid season piece so not fair to compare it to fanatic.

The proximity line up is like the stratus line up and the fanatic line up, had a baby.

I want to love the fanatic stuff it’s just too much fuzz for me. I got the new solitude set and the stratus set right now, I’ll probably pick one of these up when all their colors refresh next month.

I know sitting in trees has has like all of these sets so he can probably comment, but it seems like it may have solitude type warmth in a lighter more packable unit. The weight is my only beef with the solitude set, I’ll probably use the stratus set longer than it should be cause it weighs half as much.

I returned the Solitude. It was just too bulky for me but I think it would be pretty good for when it got a little too cold for the stratus. I personally think the solitude is gonna be warmer than the kuiu proximity.

Yeah, It’s bulkier than I want honestly. But I need something between like a sanctuary and a stratus. I think the Kuiu may be the ticket.

I had the first gen sanctuary setup, and would say the proximity is closer to the sanctuary than the stratus as far as insulation, yet the micro fleece is finer then fanatic stuff, but heavier then stratus stuff.

I think kuiu was shooting to find the sweet-spot, where you can pick up the proximity and it could be used as a core setup. Warm enough to take you deep in the season, but not so bulky that you couldnt use it on those cooler early season sits, as well as having ways to dump access heat. When it is 30-40 degrees before sun up, then when it starts warming up to 50-60's late morning. you can stay comfortable.
