It's easy for me to say "oh, I don't like this, I won't watch it". What you cannot say is "This reflects poorly on hunters, NO ONE ELSE SHOULD WATCH THIS!"

Whether you like it or not and whether you agree with it or not, every hunting video released on the internet is a reflection of ALL hunters to a large percentage of the population. Since they affect the impression the general public has of us we have every right (and in my opinion, an obligation) to call out anything that reflects poorly on hunting.
Okay, when hunting videos from small scale companies and people producing them start getting millions of views, it can be a big deal. When most the viewers are the same few thousand people who just continually watch hunting videos because they hunt as well and the large majority of comments are people exaggerating, taking things out of context (the internet's favorite thing) and it's safe to say a good portion of the complainers are "hunters" who feel so strongly but have never killed anything themselves, I'm not concerned.

You're just making it bigger then it is, for no real reason. It's not some crazy big video that CNN or FOX is showing, there's no huggers holding signs with Kifaru's name crossed out, and it's not even going to be seen by that many people.

The anti's are living in your head at this point.

Even though I don't typically agree with the must-be-guided rule in AK, this sentiment is one of the reasons it will remain in place and honestly provides an instance where I can actually back the rule. It was the guide's job to control this very emotion and he failed. It's his job to protect the population from the inevitable poor decisions made by people that have no local stake and could care less if they shoot a nanny or if a goat cliff jumps because they're on their once in a lifetime hunt in a unit they will never step foot in again and just need to get it done. From the sounds of it, the guide was a nonlocal as well; which is becoming more and more of a debate in AK hunting politics and this exact situation is one of the reasons.
I will disagree after hearing the situation and circumstances it was poor ass luck that they lost franks goat. It’s kinda like here some one shoots a deer it runs in super thick cattails never to be found or on private land the land owner won’t let you on. The fact that your tag is punched up there makes loosening it even suckier unlike here where everyone just keeps hunting.

I don’t know frank personally but I am taking his word for it. I know Brady and I believe they gave every effort to get that goat. He is not the kind of person to just give up and say o well.

Just a reminder that we don't put up with needless arguing. If you watched the video and have an opinion, that is fine. Just be respectful. We aren't here for personal arguments and we won't put up with it.
I barely watch any hunting related videos, mostly just things that are linked here as I don’t have any social media outside of this site and some other dedicated forums. I gave this one a quick watch since it had some heated opinions in the original thread.

95% of the “hunting” videos I’ve watched are garbage. This one was no exception. Everyone is too focused on themselves and not on documenting the experience from a “watchers” standpoint. Not fun to watch.

Serious LOLZ!!!! Yeah, blast emails and hashtags just MAGICALLY APPEAR out of nowhere! I'm sure Kifaru doesn't have an entire Marketing department full of people earning salaries making that stuff happen!

I think you are the one who needs to do some serious thinking about how capitalism and businesses work. Yes, Kifaru is trying to make money...they are a company, the entire reason they exist is to make money. Literally EVERYTHING they do as a company is an effort to help them make more money.

First of all. It’s a couple clicks of the mouse… and then, yes, they magically appear.

You really think they have ‘an entire marketing department full of people earning salaries’ that are typing blast emails and putting hashtags on posts?

Capitalism? Wtf? Moving on…

Business, yes, I have a little experience.

If you think ‘EVERYTHING’ a business spends money on is to see a ROI, you are absolutely clueless.

Riddle me this. If it is entirely for marketing and making money, then why has Kifaru paid for these hunts in the past without filming them?

Don’t @ me with lolz and unnecessary exclamation points.

TLDNR. But….What’s that?
Men are posting on a new thread about a different man’s missing thread about a deleted YouTube video about another man’s hunt?

You ever watch those banjo minnow infomercials way back when?

It is literally on video though...

The grizzlies were dozens of yards away and Frank gave them the thumbs up and high fives as they strolled by to dig in after he shot. Which is basically what you’re implying in your comment.
I watched the video too, I suppose you would have done it differently somehow of course. Would have run your bear detector to make sure there were none in the area.

We don’t have to worry about Anti’s when we go to lengths to tear other hunters down.

You were stirring the pot, own up to it and move on.

I did own up to it and you took the bait.

To refresh your memory: the archery dude bailed on the stalk when he saw the bears. Then, they shot the caribou across the basin and the bears walked over for dinner.

I didn't have to go to any lengths to call that poor decision making.

If everyone had a camera over their shoulder while hunting, there'd be a lot fewer critics.
I had a rodeo this year. Lots of variables went into it and looking back I would have done things differently, even though it probably would have cost me the buck. Long story short, 5-6 shots, 1st shot hit, then I lost my composure and the bullets started flying! The buck made it to private and I had to stop shooting. I remember thinking at one point “this sucks”. Man, if there had been a camera man with me I would have taken that film and stomped it into the dirt!!!!

Bears always run towards shots, got it.

@CorbLand if they think this video is a shit show, they've obviously not seen the most informative elk hunting video series on YouTube have they?

Say what?! You missed a lot of techniques and procedures that are surefire methods to success.

You obviously didn't eat your mountain moatmeal

Haven’t watched the video. Goat hunts go wrong all the time. I shot one, couldn’t recover it. Sucks, feel horrible about it, punched my tag and moved on. Tried my best to recover without killing myself in the process. I bet most of the naysayers have never chased goats with a tag in their pocket.

Sh** happens in the real world of hunting if we video it or not. Be a moral, ethical hunter and try your best to recover whatever animal you are hunting! Anytime you post a video you will have people critique and criticize something in that video, that’s human nature. We all just have to try our best in the hunt and recovery. If we do that, then that’s all anyone can truly ask for and we put on our big boy pants and move on to the next hunt. Learn from our successes and failures!
