I’ll preface my post with saying I do own a Kifaru pack, so I guess by definition that makes me a fanboi? I did pay full price for it though, sooooo 🤷🏻‍♂️

Anyway, here’s my long take that nobody cares about….

I watched the Goat Hunt, I read the original thread, I’ve read this whole thread, but haven’t had a chance to listen to the podcast.

Guys in the original thread (and this one) were bitching about the way the hunt was portrayed, and in today’s cancel culture world, they wanted Kifaru to bend over backwards and apologize and say how wrong they were for how they edited the video! Not apologize for what actually took place on the mountain, but for what part of the story they chose to put in the video!!! Maybe they have (like I said, haven’t listened to the podcast, but know they are re-editing the video), but why?

Do you really think anti-hunters are watching hunting videos and making a judgement call on whether they thought it was an ethical hunt? Like, “Hey Karen, this hunt was portrayed very well, and those hunters seemed ethical, so I think I’m a little less anti-hunting with this one.” NOOOOO!!!!! Anti-hunters are just that, anti-hunting. Period!

Now, before someone jumps on the “hunter image to the antis” bandwagon, I do agree to an extent with kill photos. No need to show a deers face blown off, etc, etc….but we aren’t talking about that here anyway.

Like was said before, hunters are doing a good enough job of tearing each other apart, the antis could damn near quit their efforts.

Excellent reply

It seems like hunting content consumers want to be lied to and have been conditioned to be lied to because the vast majority of those who film want to make themselves look as good as they can but still putting out some content… when someone puts out the whole hunt, people don’t seem to like it, even though deep down if they have spent a lot of time in the woods, they have to know it’s not text book every encounter… seems like people want to live vicariously through an unrealistically perfect hunt when watching videos

Same thing with personalities, people don’t seem to like very blunt and straightforward…

If you want to film hunts and put them out there, only post the fairytale parts and don’t be yourself… don’t forget the Richard Simmons enthusiasm either, and if it doesn’t go perfect, you damn well better cry a little (rub a little Copenhagen in your eyes if you can’t force out a tear, that will make the emotions more real too, because it hurts like a bitch

It was simply a poorly made video. Not cause of the missed shots or lost goat. Because it left so much for the viewer to figure out what was happening.

When you watch a well produced video you feel like you’re there hunting with them. That wasn’t the case here. It took me a while to even figure out if they got the 2nd goat.

What is most surprising is that execs at kifaru viewed that and decided to roll with it. I would have been embarrassed to put my name on it just cause the production quality was so low.

You guys are blowing the initial response to the video way out of proportion. 30 seconds talking to the camera, explaining what happened, would have prevented all of this.

This is pretty much spot on.

A lot of armchair quarterbacks in here that must have had flawless hunts and film Academy Award winning hunting videos.

The Kifaru guys have done nothing but try to help the hunting community and make quality American made gear. Instead of shitting on theme for a video they put out, why not suggest some productive ways to help the story and message?

I’m sure I’ll now be labeled a fanboy because I’ve used lots of different gear and like their products but is this all we have to bemoan? Why not focus efforts on improving the community while we’re being attacked by anti’s across multiple fronts. Our spring bear hunt in WA is now in jeopardy because of feelings, don’t let yours pile on FFS.

I must have watched i different video, i thought it was pretty straight forward. One goat was able to get just far enough to tumble into a nasty area the other they were able to get. It sucks but thats what happeneded. Its funny how people complain that videos only show the highlights and never how it really is. Then someone puts up a “real” video and everyone cries about it. Its pretty disappointing seeing how some of the rokslide handled it. Thought people werent as sensitive as the rest of the world here.
I thought the video was alright. Figured it could of been better filmed if the one guy didnt hurt himself since he was the main camera guy if i remeber right. But shit happens.

That comment has had your panties in a wad for three months. I am glad you get to hunt goats in your backyard and that your experience prevails with everyone else's. Goats and bighorn sheep sometime take the wrong path and turn to burger. Doesn't mean that that is ideal or attempts aren't made to prevent it. But for christ sakes get off your soap box.

What a whiner. That’s it.

I think the initial video is what caused the uproar. They pulled it end edited it and reposted it.

They also admitted their shortcomings. Something more folks should do. Don’t feel the hunting community is aligned with cancel culture but certain “men” here feel differently.

It’s about time the hunting community start sticking together and stop trying to belittle and tear each other apart! Every hunter knows that sh*t happens and we hopefully learn from our successes and mistakes!

Our hunting heritage is something which we ALL definitely should be proud of and must work everyday to preserve. As hunters and true Sportsman, we must standup for hunting and work to preserve our way of life as hunters! HUNTING IS A PRIVILEGE, NOT A RIGHT!! Let’s fight the good fight. The real battle is the anti’s that we face, so lets stick together!

The original thread (not this one) on here came first. IIRC, some guys even saying they would never buy a Kifaru pack because of the video.
Its a free country. If they want to use a pack made in China. You know what they say, you can lead a horse to water........
