The video sucked, plain and simple. I won’t go into details on why. But it didn’t need to get pulled, Kifaru cast’s comment did tho imo

“anyone who’s never lost a goat like this, has never goat hunted”

For the ones out there doing their part to support the conservation of these animals, my hat is off to you! Unfortunately it doesn’t go for everyone.

Theyre figuring out the formula…when Gritty and Aron started they had it. One guy is great at story telling, narration, and context, the other..jokes, woodsman-ship, and shooting. Without one or the other, you’re gonna loose something and fall short on a film. That’s why they were so popular together.

It will take some time, they’ll get it.

Critiques will only make them stronger in the end.

Hashtagging their gear when the hunt was paid for by kifaru? That’s what we are griping about now? How many packs would they have to sell off that single video to make up the money kifaru spent for that hunt + production. I am prettty ignorant but seems like a terrible way to make a bunch of money, jeezus people. Sounds like the hunt was a write off and free advertising on the backend. Not exactly a ‘marketing campaign’…

Sending blast emails about the videos release to everyone in their system, and cross posting on their social media is the definition of a multi media marketing campaign lol

I’m a huge fan of kifaru. The folks at Kifaru and their gear has always been been great by me.

The video wasn’t great, they admitted that and they’re addressing it.

What I’m still a little unsure about is they said many times in the podcast the video wasn’t about making money. They said it was just to tell a story of guys on a hunt.

Why would kifaru pay goat hunt money, do a multi media marketing campaign for the release of the video, and put #kifarulife throughout the video if it wasn’t about making money?

This is what happened in your opinion?

I didn’t see the thread. I heard it was a shit show. Doesn’t sound like anyone was given ‘benefit of the doubt’…

That is what I was disappointed in. Not surprised. Disappointed.

I immediately regret my decision in partaking in this conversation 🤦‍♂️

I see, disappointed in how people reacted. I share your sentiments completely.

They have a podcast opposing Matt Rinella's view on "killing for content" and now they are removing their own videos. The Universe works in weird ways.
If you listen to the podcast they removed it so they can edit it to add narration to explain what is shown in the video. They are not subtracting content just explaining what the exact situation was to clear up any misunderstanding. They will put it back up with the narration.

If you like the likes, you gotta take the dislikes. I felt as most, narrate what happened with the death roll so it doesnt appear like you walked away.
Frank seemed to show his feelings about the whole thing later

Listened to some of the podcast, my takeways:

They’re really great shots and they’ll tell you so

Goat hunting is extreme just ask them

If you’re paying a lot for a guided hunt you gotta kill something

They have terrible luck killing goats that aren’t recoverable or end up destroyed but oh well that’s part of goat hunting

Podcast sucked IMO

Like I said. Some advertising on the back end.

Blast emails and hashtags don’t cost shit. A company would be naive not to do this.

Just really ask yourself if the purpose of this goat hunt and video was a genuine money grab.

Go ahead, you have time to think about it…

Kifaru did a podcast when they hired Dave. His position was said at the time to be for the creation of content. They aren’t paying him because he’s a fun guy. That content sells equipment.

All of that is fine and well. They can do as they please. I just brought up the fact that they said it’s not about money, but it is about money. Aron himself has said as much many times. He hates social media and content creation but it’s necessary evil for business.

I didn’t think the video was bad. Kind of sucks they had to go back and do a podcast to explain themselves to the keyboard cowboys who never lose kills and almost certainly go on annual goat hunts.

What I do appreciate, I guess, is the consistency in here to hold them accountable like they did the Kryptek sheep hunt, and not just a bunch of ball gargling.

The story could’ve been better told in the video but I feel like I remember going into the video knowing Frank lost his goat, so at some point they had already prefaced it.

Serious LOLZ!!!! Yeah, blast emails and hashtags just MAGICALLY APPEAR out of nowhere! I'm sure Kifaru doesn't have an entire Marketing department full of people earning salaries making that stuff happen!

I think you are the one who needs to do some serious thinking about how capitalism and businesses work. Yes, Kifaru is trying to make money...they are a company, the entire reason they exist is to make money. Literally EVERYTHING they do as a company is an effort to help them make more money.

I didn't listen to the podcast.

My take on the video is I didn't love it. But, I learned from my own hunt video how things are hard to portray accurately without making the video too long. Videos need to be fairly short or we all get bored. In an effort to cut out time, I think a lot of details are left out.

Kifaru didn’t pay for Bradys hunt that I know for a 100% iron clad fact. Don’t know about Frank. Me if I go on a hunt and pay that much I’m killing something . That’s why I go hunting plenty of time to hike and take land scape pics the rest of the year.

I don't think the video was terrible; hunt wild animals in wild places enough and shit's gonna happen. That said, it's not like mtn goats are notoriously hard to stalk. Not sure why they felt they had to long bomb it.

I did not like the video. I love mountain goat hunting and do it every year. I also love those animals. I can spot them on the mountain from my front deck and often observe them when out hiking. The thought of shooting one and it rolling down to an unretrievable position sucks. If that happened to me I would be PISSED at myself. I would be rehashing my decisions and trying to learn what went wrong. If the hunt was being videoed my feelings after the fact would be a BIG part of the story.

If they release the video and tell the story better then that will help.

When hunting in the mountains I believe the right thing to do is to think where the animal will end up if you kill it. I have passed up billies twice because I was unsure about the recovery. I have also messed up when goat hunting but I own those mistakes and learn from them.

Mistakes happen to everyone but we can learn from them and learn to MINIMIZE them. Any hunting video that comes out and mistakes were made then those need to be addressed as part of the story.

People hear what they want I guess. Can you give me a timestamp in the podcast where Frank says he's a great shot?

If everyone had a camera over their shoulder while hunting, there'd be a lot fewer critics.
