Hey HH that set up looks awesome. Im usually not a big fan of coyote brown but that looks awesome. Is that just a standard lid? Your belt looks diff from mine, is two rows of webbing standard now (new thing) or is that the tactical belt?

Thanks man! Yea it's a toss up between coyote and Highlander for me. I wish they would get ASAT haha. It's the Long Hunter Lid. I'm not sure on the belt, but I think it's standard on the Duplex.

That is the tactical version but it will become standard on the bikini. I prefer it over the one row becasue my pistol attaches via malice clips and the two rows snugs it up nice where as it was kind of floppy with just the one row. There is a selection box to get the tactical version over the standard one row belt. When they first made the change there was language stating that you need to add a note to the order if you wanted the tactical version if I remember correctly but that was only for a wekk or so in Jan then the selection box came up.

There is also this note on the Bikini page:

Note: Bikini Frames will be shipped with the standard Belt shown in the image above while supplies last. If you would like the Tactical version of the belt with two rows of PALS webbing as pictured to the right, please select the radio button before checking out.

mt100gr. sent me these pics of the mod he made to his Duplex frame to attach the bottom of the Nomad. I like this and may do something similar.

So far I like the way the long pocket fits down there the best

I attached the top of the long pocket with repair buckles to the Nomad strap and the bottom with k connectors to the very bottom tabs on the frame.

I like the look of the long pocket fit their too... but notice the back pouch looks to be the same length and depth (14.5"x4") but the back pouch is 2" wider (9.5" vs 7.5"). I like how the side zip of the long pocket puts the zip on top mounted horizontal, but otherwise, is there enough room for the 2" extra width of the back pouch without "bunching up" the batwings.... for an extra $4 and 0.5oz, it gets you an extra 350ci (assuming both cordura).

Guess same question for med pod in this spot as at 8oz is less weigh then both pockets, 1000d vs 500d, and a lot more more ci at 15"long x 9"wide x 10"high... I suspect this does not fit as tidy as the long or back pouch though? Must be enough delivered now for some user feedback on the recommended best fit of the 3 for this "spot".... maybe a poll question. Depends on how intend to pack I guess, I just don't want something riding up too much on the batwings when closed above.

Thanks.

I have the same setup and the way the long pocket straps work, they will roll the pocket up into the btm of the wings. When tight you can slip your hand in between and flip the buckle to loosen the straps and drop the horizontal pouch down and away. You can also just unbuckle the straps.

This was my Nomad loaded for yesterdays bear hunt

Hey superduece, I will have my nomad and medium pod on Tuesday. I had planned on running the pod like you are talking about, I can let you know how it works. I was initially thinking back pouch but Aron recommend the medium pod.

I use the medium pod under my Nomad and it fits great. Holds my sleeping bag, pad and pillow. Looks like its made for it!

The pod certainly looks like the best volume to weight ratio of the 3 options if it fits well with wings full and closed.

I have the medium pod on mine right now, but think I'd prefer the long pocket. In daypack mode, I'll be using the Grab-It.

With the medium pod, I feel like it interferes too much with the bat wings. I think the long pocket looks like a better fit.

i am sure you are right... but comparing the long pocket to the pod is apples to oranges.

The long pocket will also clip to the regular lid if you don't want it down below the wings. It'll be kind of a wart on there but will be real accessible for stuffing thing in quickly.

Not so much comparing them as finding the right fit. If I was to use the pod, I'd put my sleeping bag in it. If I use the long pocket, I'd stuff whatever fits in it best and put the bag in the camp bag.

Got my nomad and medium pod the other day. Loaded the Nomad with typical day hunt gear and then loaded thr pod with the fly sheet from my sl5, sleepind pad, jet boil, and my extra clothes. The pod works great under the wings. This pack holds a ton of gear. My long hunter lid is empty and I havent put anything but a water bladder between the wings. Still have plenty of room for my sleeping bag and food. I feel confident that the pack could handle my camp and a load of meat easily.

glad you got one BMART. hit me up this summer if you want to go on some hikes. I have a pod that I will probably use for quick 1 night stuff and the camp bag for if i go longer.

That is a great idea for when the Camp Bag is too much. I just don't like how the medium pod rides below the wings. This pack is SOOOOO versatile. Comfortably carries as a day pack without all the extras, but will haul in "the kitchen sink" if you add everything. At first I wasn't crazy about all the straps, but with one hunt under its belt, Im liking the Nomad more everytime I play around with it. Do I dare get rid of my beloved T2????????

Just did my first hike with mine. Only 3 miles with 40lbs. I felt no weight on my shoulders at all, so I guess I have it set up correctly...yeah I'm a newb :) it was very comfortable. Any advice from you seasoned veterans will be appreciated.

It's a 0.1 micron, good for 100,000 gal...is it not enough? I also have & plan to use aquamira drops.

Only modification was to cut the tube and burn the frayed ends of the insulating tube cover after cutting.
