What do y'all do for kids hunting clothes?

Son is 12 and wears a large in boys clothes.

I'm not ready to spend big bucks in hunting gear.

My biggest issue is warmth and dry. Not worried about camo.

I buy stuff on sale at Scheels, Runnings, etc. It's pretty much all cotton and cheap.

I did get a jumpsuit from cabelas but that thing will absorb water like a cotton sleeping bag in a tub of water.

Found some field and stream stuff on sale at dicks. Says waterproof, but not sure how warm it will keep him. His hunts are usually in early October so it's not too bad.

His brother on the other hand is going to be hardcore. At least I hope so

My older son is 6 but he wears a good carhartt jacket and has some decent
snow boots to keep his feet warm. Also I found him a camo puffy on amazon for not much money ($25 I think).

I got excited and dropped the money on Sitka for my 9 year old son. I got it all a little big for him. He likes it, it's comfortable and keeps him warm. I have 3 kids coming up right behind him, so those clothes will see a lot of use before their days are done. The only reason I paid Sitka prices for him is because his siblings will use it as well, no way I'd drop that money on one kid for one or 2 seasons.

I mostly dress my 3 year old in Columbia clothes. They arent super high quality but at least you can get synthetics in the right size. I made him some gaiters to keep the snow and sand out of his boots too. I will probably be making him a sleeping bag here pretty soon too

For the last two PA rifle seasons my kids have worn their regular winter play clothes. That means bulky coat and cheap snow pants. I have bought them merino socks as we use those when hiking too. They both will be getting some decent synthetic base layers in the next couple weeks. For boots they've used a pack style boot with a liner or rain boots.

Ski clothes are a really good suggestion but you won't find a middle quality/price point there either.

I just saw that Midway USA makes some decent looking kids camo gear and the price is right.

I’ve struggled with this very issue since we had our daughter almost 2 years ago. I don’t care at all about camo, but I do need to find clothes for her that will keep her warm and dry (and dry quickly if they get wet, which happens often in toddlerhood). Obviously your son is older, but some of the same principles could be useful. I try to avoid cotton when at all possible, and opt for synthetic fabrics and fleece. I have found a lot of good options at our local thrift store, and Walmart carries “rash guard” style swim shirts are great for inexpensive baselayer tops and T-shirt’s that dry quickly. I’ve found great deals on quality raingear and boots (which is where i’d Be willing to spend the most money if required) shopping on Sierra trading post and amazon.

We did a 4 night 5 day backpacking trip over Chilkoot Pass from Alaska to Canada last July, and our daughter (then 17 months) did it with only a single set of layered clothing that dried quickly. I did opt to carry an extra fleece suit and spare baselayer for her, but we never needed them.

Eddie Bauer has a nice fleece hoody and when on sale it's reasonably priced. I buy terramar baselayers on Sierra trading post on sale same with darn tough socks. Outer layers I don't know too much about camo options. I'd try to find just a polyester shell and layer it over his other stuff instead of buying an insulated outer layer.

Try Gamehide. They have decent stuff for a reasonable price. Kings may have some stuff too.
