I, like all you guys like guns. I have been shooting them for over 40 years now since I started as a kid with my first shotgun. I started shooting handguns 30+ years ago and since I was a LEO I carried one daily for many, many years. I own and have owned more guns and esp handguns than I care to even remember, some bad, most good, but all fun. With all that said though I just within the past few months bought (ashamed to admit it here...) my very first 1911 .45. I bought a Springfield Armory 1911 Loaded Model in SS. Since it was the loaded model with most of the goodies I wanted all I added extra was I changed out the factory mags and used Wilson Combat 47D's and without a doubt it has to be the finest shooting handgun I have ever taken out of a box (well out of a plastic case in todays world, boxes only you 50 year old and up guys like me will remember) . Only because I have been doing this so long I am a fairly decent shot. But I was putting these rounds right on top of each other at 20 yards. Up until the 1911 I thought the best shooting gun out of the box I had ever bought was my Sigs, not any more.

Now here's the curse. I can't stop buying 1911's now! I'm going go today drop another $800 and buy another Loaded Model in the Parkerized just because. :)

Damn the 1911 Curse! :😀

Yep, I like 1911’s too. It’s funny that one of my best shooting handguns is a cheap Rock Island Armory 1911.

1911s are cool. One day I’ll get a new carry piece, for now it’s my 20 year old Glock 19. Not even the newest model, heck not even the previous model. It’s a gen3. I need to get with the times.

I have a Springfield Loaded 1911 in SS. I hate that thing. Trigger is mediocre, sights are terrible and it doesn't eject properly all the time. Wanna buy it?

Welcome to the addiction and club. Mine started with a Llama that I intended to customize until I realized Llama used proprietary parts that did not match true 1911 form. Then despite all the negative reviews on Kimbers I bought one on a black Friday deal and was hooked. I now own Kimber, Springfield, Dan Wesson and Ed Brown.

I love 1911s but sold my only one. Had GI style A1 manufactured by Brixia and imported by Chiappa. Snagged for 400$. Polish up the internals and slide rails, dimpled my magazine followers. Great gun. But I just didn't have a use for it, especially without an ambi safety, and .45 was just one more caliber to stockpile that I didn't need. One day I'd like to replace it with a 10mm, maybe a DW Specialist. The only other .45 I would buy at this point is MK23. I really liked my USPc .45, but again, just wasn't something I had much use for and had a pressing need for my P40L.

Not sure why you’re ashamed to admit it. A 1911 is an American staple. Can’t get much more American than that. Save your money, but a staycation comp in 9mm and change your life

I to am new to the addiction. I blame @form since he posted the 1911 thread. I took a chance and purchased a Tisas single stack. I shot better with it than all of my Glocks. Now I have a STI single stack and a Staccato C. Data doesn’t lie, but the Internet marketing machine does. All my Glocks will be up for sale by the end of February.

I’ve been addicted since I purchased a Colt Commander in .45 cal. One of the best 1911 pistols I have in the safe. It’s fun and accurate.

I reckon that if you're going to have a curse that precludes you from not spending money on firearms, finding 1911 pistols irresistible is one of the best that you could have.

All this talk of 1911 pistols made me realize that I needed a new one. I just picked up a Kimber Custom in 10mm. Can’t wait to get it out to the range.
