Scheming a lightweight manual side charge build. Years ago there were some negative reports on polymer lowers. Are there some quality ones available now? Will be manual bolt and occasional use in 223. Thanks

Short answer... no.

Quality for what they are maybe but not worth the minimal weight savings over aluminum, unless it's just for kicks. I wouldn't take it in the field unless I was walking 50yds to a tree stand and back.

I'll add that aluminum lowers can be had for like... $30 nowadays. Not sure what problem polymer would solve. In the era of 80% lowers the polymer made more sense for your average Joe to finish than aluminum that needed milling. Just my 2 cents.

I tagged you in the ultralight rifle thread. They have some light AR’s in their. I’d buy a skeletonize metal one.

Tennessee arms are pretty nice. I am impressed with mine. Other than that it took 6 weeks to get. I plan on hunting with mine.
