Is the Sitka Ambient a must have?

I love love love it. I usually rock a heavyweight hoody or the core 330 as a base, when it gets chilly I’ll put the ambient over and they covers alot of situations and then he it gets cold cold I’ll throw a puffy over that set up or change it to a base layer, puffy and hard shell over top

Yep! I'm with you. I am a freeze baby so multiple hunts last year when it was around 0 I had heavyweight, ambient, puffy vest or jacket on under a shell. Just keep insulating til the diesel in my veins don't freeze right!? Hahaha

How do you like the 330? And how's the Weight compared to the heavyweight?

I love it, it is definitely a little heavier and warmer but still breaths pretty damn well. the full kangaroo pouch on it is a legit game changer, the feel on your skin is better than grid fleece (HWH material) in my opinion, the fit is a little baggier but not by a whole lot. Haven’t decided how I feel about the hood yet. I like the built in face mask that tucks in when not in use, it surprisingly doesnt bother me. But, the fit of the hood is extremely “athletic” fit if that makes sense. I get a tight hood but it seems a little over the top, but not a huge deal for me.

The Scooba hood thing isn't always the best for me
I have a bison head so it's tough, because I get that I'm not normal. But at the same time I'd like to be able to wear a hood sometimes over a hat lol

I have the original ambient that Sitka does not make any more, overall I have been very impressed with it other than the fit of the cuffs. This season I started to notice it was not as warm as it used to be. Has anybody else noticed this? Is it just the materials breaking down from use over time ?

I haven’t noticed any degradation with mine and that’s with quite a bit of year round use.

I wouldn’t expect too much degradation as it’s basically a fleece vs a filament insulation.

It’s possible the “fur” may flatten a bit, but I haven’t noticed that, yet anyways.

I wear the dickens out of mine and it's still too warm for moderate weather and high output!

I love mine. I have the older style without full sleeves and the new jacket. Big fan.

Must have? Idk. On clearance I'd say they are worth it. Not on clearance for me I wouldn't have picked them up.

I have the original Ambient pullover hoody. It is by far the best piece of gear that I own. The only thing I would change is to add front pockets.
Can’t understand why they discontinued it. WTF?

That looks nice!! Ley us know how you like the "hybrid" with the grid fleece. I love my Sitka arrowhead which I think is 90g, just with polartec alpha direct. Would you also mind weighing it if you get a chance. I imagine the pullover would have a great warmth:weight ratio.

Have actually found I like mine on non hunting trips. I travel for business and try to only pack carry on. It is great to have a piece of insulation that is half the bulk of a fleece and just as warm

The 75g is fantastic! I love the hybrid. I’ve been wearing it against my skin on brisk walk/job sessions with my pup in the 30-40 degree range. I also find myself wearing it all day long on my work from home days in the office. Highly recommend.
