We say heck no it's not dead, but it's interesting to see the decline in winning Grip & Grins in our Best Hunt Photo contests. Remember, the members vote on these images, and there are always GnGs in the finalists (staff picks the finalists), but not one of them won this year in the three contests that are done (WT results still pending). Interesting..., and maybe people are just looking for something different. Listen in for the full discussion.

Are there less photo entries overall in comparison to prior years, or just less GnG's?
good question

There are less photo entries in 2022/2023 BUT it because we started pushing the Meat Pole thread out for images that weren't contest quality but guys didn't have a place to share their success.

'22/23 had about 90 images
'21 had about 150
'20 had about 250
'19 had about 200

("about" is because some of the post #s are just comments on images)

so hard to nail it down, but it just seems members are voting more for the non-GnGs more often

except in the WT contest, looks like a GnG will win that one this year.

I was curious if the "Hunt Quietly" movement was having effect on whether certain folks were abstaining from posting photos. Maybe another potential metric to consider.

could be, but also could be we've had so many GnGs on Rokslide over the years, that people are looking for something different. Took a few complaints on "too artsy" from some guys, but the voting shows differently.
