Preffered Elk Cartidge.

Tried to pick the most popular calibers/cartridges in N.A.

I chose .338 Win, but really like my .325WSM. Kind of close to the .338 but in a short action, handy rifle.

The ideal elk cartridge is the one you shoot the best as long as that is also accompanied by the knowledge and understanding of that cartridge's limitations.

In the works of doing a 338-06 on a 84L Kimber after deciding to move up from a 338 federal

Inside of 300 yards, I grab my 338-06 every time. You’ll love it.

7mm mag is going to kill anything in N A easily and accurately, not kick too hard.

I chose the 338 but if someone is intent on having a very lightweight rifle or having less recoil, I would say 280 AI

This doesn’t exist for any animal. Everyone handles recoil differently. A lung shot with a 243 is better than a clean miss with a 338 WM.

The correct answer is to use the most powerful cartridge that you can accurately shoot.

I voted 338 WM, but now take my 338 RUM. My 338 RUM is my most accurate gun.

338 RUM with a 300grain Berger Elite Hunter flying at just under 2800fps at the muzzle is devastating to the shoulder of an elk...

i bought a 340 wby years back dreaming of hunting elk with it. then sold it later with no elk hunting in sight. then finally went elk hunting... the 300wsm got it done but surely the 340 woulda got it done a few seconds faster.

I voted .270 because the elk I hunt are a lot smaller than most.

Have been killing a lot of elk lately with a 7-08, it works fine too.
