Both. I have never had an issue with this caliber on elk. As far as speed goes I don’t have access to a chronograph but if I recall correctly the box says somewhere around 2700

The construction of that bullet is not much different than an interlock from what I understand, and at 100 yards or more it's probably a 2600 FPS or less impact velocity. The sectional density of that bullet should hold it together well. Not that you have concerns but upon examination I think it's a decent combination myself.

338 Winchester Magnum is a hammer……if you can handle the recoil….
Indeed they work well and a properly fitted 338 Win doesn't have much bite. I just tend to leave mine at home as I grab my 35 Whelen, 9.3x62 when heading out for elk in the coastal rain forests these days. But if I know I'll be hunting more open area where shots can be further then most of the time I grab my 358 Norma, but there isn't anything wrong with a 338 Win.
Hell I've killed elk with 243, 270, 7mm-08, 280 Rem 30-30, 308, 300 Win, 300 Rum, 338 Win, 35 Whelen, 9.3x62, and 358 Norma to name a few and they all did the job. With that said the older I get I want them anchored at the shot, so I tend to like bigger calibers just in case I don't get the perfect angle when the time comes... Just my 2c
