Indeed they work well and a properly fitted 338 Win doesn't have much bite. I just tend to leave mine at home as I grab my 35 Whelen, 9.3x62 when heading out for elk in the coastal rain forests these days. But if I know I'll be hunting more open area where shots can be further then most of the time I grab my 358 Norma, but there isn't anything wrong with a 338 Win.338 Winchester Magnum is a hammer……if you can handle the recoil….
