I didn't draw a CO elk tag. Now what?

It is what you make of it. Make it fun.

i have no doubt we will have some fun! good to hear from some others who are backing up and punting. going back to all the newbie questions...it really is about mindset, not gear, fitness, area, etc. Things change and you have to adapt.

They do for sure! Complete with stainless steel bracelets!! Awesome jewelry , matching flat bills too!

2nd Rifle OTC is not the end of the world. We had a blast last year, and while I didn't notch my tag we helped a couple cool guys from AZ pack out a very nice bull and we found two large sheds.

Plenty of bulls killed in 2nd season. Most that I see are in some hellhole but they are out there.

Actually, NC has elk too, they even have collars to make them easier to locate.
Not all NC elk have collars, any more. Also, there is no hunting season on them (only a few predation tags.

I even saw a few last weekend just outside of of Cherokee NC...in the Smokey Mtn Park.

I live 45 mins from these elk. very aware of no hunting season. But all the nice bulls i have seen have collars.

There are 2100 of these leftover. There are also several other public land hunt codes that have several hundred tags leftover. So if you did not select to participate in the leftover draw, there should still be some, as there is every year, available to purchase after mid August.
That was a good tag for my buddy's first elk hunt last fall. Huge amount of country on one tag.
