Hunting/Skinning Knife build

Just finished up a new skinning knife from s30v steel and g10 scales. Turned out nicely with a few cosmetic blemishes. Really fun, but time consuming project. My first knife I made from O1 tool steel skinned an elk, but got a bit rusty from lack of maintenance.

7oz with the sheath. I also built a mini skinner that weighs 2.5. I’ll probably switch around and see which is better.

I get most supplies from trugrit abrasives and also do heat treating there. They do a great job.

I buy 1.500”x 1/8”x 36” stock and cut out the knives from that.

Probably close to 10 hours. Im planning on making another batch, and figure to cut that time down. Certainly labor intensive.
