Help finalize the "Dixie Zipper" (Mini CBK) for a group buy

@Dixie what’s the preferred angle you use?

I am thinking I will match the ESSE #3 if possible or if it doesn’t fit I will add a square plate. That let the user choose the type of clip on his own. And, I will probably offer a couple clip models/options separately.
20 degrees setting on the work sharp... which is 40 degrees inclusive.

I like matching the esee 3 for sure.

Not really, IMO. It’s already a thin blade that I skeletonized in the tang. And steel is where most of the weight is.

If you wanted to lighten it more, you could cut lightening pockets on the backside of the handle scales for tenths of ounces.

Definitely didn't need another knife. But also definitely needed this one. Thanks to all that contributed to this project. Can't wait to have it in my hands, whenever that may be!

I looked back to see if I could answer my out question, but couldn’t find anything. Will the taco style sheath be able to have a clip added to it?
Thanks

I would say yes. Most clips have a standard spacing of 5/8 and That's likely the spacing they will have on the top grommets. Pretty simple deal to drill your own if needed. Just make sure it's below the top grommet as the sheath needs some flex to release the knife.

Just wanted to say thanks for this. I ordered one for myself, as selfish as that sounds, because being able to be in on the development made me realize how close this is to my exact idea of perfection.

Like a lot of us, I've used many different blades but can't seem happy with just one. Here I am buying just one more. ;D

Thanks everyone for helping make this happen!

Finishing final tweaks on handle contour. They are below.

Read through and give me feedback:

Should I change the shape of the taper on the front of the handle?

It is a scallop shape now which will give some good grip. Or, should I go with a more flat approach?

I will have two designs produced and all preorders will get an email and link to confirm your choice of design and color for the handle.

One is heavily textured “knapped” and the other is the same contour but with a textured grip. The texture doesn’t show in the non-knapped rendering because I wanted to see the contour clearly in the rendition. It will have knurling/checkering for grip texture. They are going to send me a sample for approval.

I think it is pretty clean and follows the original shape, plus a bevel at the front edge.

Either shape will be available in the listed colors.

AND, I ordered a limited run sheet of stacked/ply of lime green and orange G10. It will look really cool on the knapped and will be available in the other too.

I'm in for the non-knapped version as I never felt like I needed more grip on the pass around knives. Looking at the front scallop I'd worry that the scallop might be uncomfortable in a pinch or index finger along spine grip. I would prefer a top to bottom flat ramp for comfort especially since I never had any grip concerns with the pass arounds. I do think the scallop looks nicer and without actually holding/using it could be perfectly comfortable.

I'd prefer non-knapped as well.

That said be careful of pulling a Rokstok and making so many different options that it's a complete PITA for you and delays the whole show. Between emailing folks that pre-ordered for texture and accommodating random requests I feel like you're going to wind up with a ton of different SKUs of this knife. Right now with 4 options for sheath, 4 handle materials and 2 edge finishes you're already at 32 options. Add in some more handle colors & the texture options and it's not hard to see you in a situation where you have 80+ combinations of different options.

Understood. It’s a concern and on my mind.

An email will have a link to enter options into a Google form, so I will have a spreadsheet to work off of.

Fulfillment will be picking parts and assembling. We were able to work out the custom suppressor covers and ship right away. It fits our small company.

This is where I am at too. I know there are different tastes, so curious who else may chime in.

I will wait till Monday before I make a decision to get more feedback.
