Anyone else have the same pet peeve of being bugged when the host interrupts guests' answers regularly or the host goes on long monologues? I have a particular host in mind that drives me a bit crazy sometimes and I think it may be an ego thing to some extent or lack of awareness. The guest content is still good enough that I ignore the annoyance. If I really believe the host is a stud hunter, I'll give them more leeway on the monologues but the interruptions still grind.

Side note: One podcast I love is Cutting the Distance by Remi Warren. The guy doesn't bs and just shares his hunting knowledge from so many days in the field. He's top notch. And, I'm still a little sour at @Ryan Avery for what I felt was some unnecessary rudeness to me in a recent thread on the Sawtooth Zone but the guy knows how to moderate a podcast. I'm happy to recommend Avery Adventures to anyone out there.

It’s not just one person and I wasn’t thinking of Rinella because he’s a stud and I give him a slight pass but yeah Rinella can get carried away with it sometimes.

I love all the MeatEater stuff but the podcasts. It’s just so much bsing and add topic switching.

I definitely prefer the ones where they have an expert on who drives the conversation vs the shooting the breeze ones.

Agreed, I had to stop listening to his podcast because I felt like he was over talking everyone, and interrupting his guests. That being said it could just be his personality, I definitely appreciate what he’s done for hunting.

I’ve tried many more, but horrible host interviewers and sponsor interview shows are brutal. What keeps bringing me back to MeatEater is their prep work and good interviews (despite the interruptions). Rinella has a ton of personality and energy, and I find that people with those qualities can wear on you fast. Once a week is my small dose.

Have you tried Rich Outdoors?

Kifarucast - Funny and tons of knowledge. Aron always has “been there, done that” types of guests and it is refreshing.

Eastman’s Elevated - Brian Barney is a very motivational and informative host. Seems incredibly humble and positive at all times.

NockOn for specific archery topics, Dudley is a good teacher but you have to sift through the product placement.

MeatEater was a fave for years and still has some good ones but Rinella’s intellectual smugness and self importance wears on me. I will admit that I am somewhat biased now after the sellout to the Chernin Group.

Im an Alaskan so Tundra Talk is pretty Awesome. Ive reached out to Tyler and he's actually respnded to my questions, thats cool of him. Another really educational podcast is The Back country hunting Podcast by Joseph Von Benedict. That guy knows his ballistics, rifles, calibers etc, Ive learned a ton from his podcast about my rifle and hunting rounds etc. He also replied to some questions I had, seems to be a stand up guy.

It’s pretty good throughout. Pick your favorite species and just get after it. The @robby denning episode is good.

I'm suprised nobody has mentioned the hunt backcountry podcast from the guys at exo mountain gear. That podcast is great. Really informative and they seem a lot more like regular guys rather than the "celebrity" hunters.

Backcountry Rookies.... the host is brutal. As a self-proclaimed rookie trying to learn from experts he is constantly interrupting and adding his two cents. I've tried to listen to some of the more interesting guests but it's unbearable.

Closing the Distance (Great technical information from a genuine expert)
MeatEater (Great guests and diversity of content, though Rinella can be a bit much sometimes)
Cals Week in Review (Informative, short, sweet, and to the point)
Hunt Gather Talk (As good of a wild game cook as there is)
Elk Talk (Lots of rambling but good basic elk content)
Kifarucast (A little much at times but great content and guests)
Nock On (The benchmark in technical compound archery information)
Jay Scott Outdoors (Expert information and excellent hosting on elk, coues, and turkeys )
Hunt Talk Radio (Randy seems like a genuinely good dude with a good message)

I’ve been listening to them a lot more than anyone else lately.

Early meat eater was really good but the show kinda devolved at some point. That’s one that really seems to depend on the guest as to how good it’s going to be. I will say I wish the episodes were shorter, the 2 hours plus gets a bit much for me.

I skip around on Kifarucast a lot, not a bow hunter so a lot of them don’t apply to me. I do appreciate the cutting through some of the BS that Aron Snyder does. The episodes with BHA, SCI and just the guest talking about how non profits work were really excellent.

Just got into Randy Newberg’s and Remi Warren’s, so far so good.
