Hunter orange messing wtih my clothing system...looking for tips.

I wore one of the cheap mesh vests for years. I finally got it destroyed and found a deal on the Kryptek vest a while back. It's actually a halfway decent layer. I use it in KS and will in CO. For WY I have an orange cap I wear, and a ear warmer band that I got off Amazon that I can put over my hood when I stop to glass for a while so I still have orange visible. I think its a ridiculous sounding company Turtle Fur that makes it, but it does the job. Lots of times I can get away with just a light hood like on my Sitka Core LW hoody under the ball cap.

Hot hunts I wear a First Lite trucker hat in blaze orange. It fits better and dries faster than the freeby one it replaced. Colder hunts I wear my old lucky orange hat. I had it given to me years ago. It has a pheasant on it shaped like the Nike symbol and says JUST SHOOT IT underneath. Killed a lot of critters wearing that hat.

thanks for the inputs yall. it isn't really a weight issue for the guy saying I need to put my big boy panties on. I was just curious if there was a better option I was overlooking. Yall have confirmed my original thoughts....vest and hat is probably the safest option. Its been nice hunting in NM because hunter orange isn't required. but going back to wy, I will now have to deal with the vest shuffle each time I layer up or down, and with the pack on, its probably best to have the hat as well. If I can access the pack with the vest attached to it, I may just leave it on there, and wear the hat so I don't have to mess with the vest as much.

Orange vest worked for me for years

But when you throw a pack and a bino harness on, I’m guessing you fall below the minimum in MT (400 square inches).

A few years ago I discovered Patagonia often makes clothing in blaze orange, although they don’t call it that. Since then, I’ve watched the sales and now have a pretty good collection of blaze orange Patagonia jackets/shirts.

Blue Jeans and Orange Flannel. The Hollister Hunter is taking over. Unbelievable this is even a topic....so sorry that you don't have a matching firstlite orange piece to tie your outfit together ma'am. Lol.
