Hoyt Nitrum Turbo WOW !!!!

I have done a few little write ups on it but figured I would share some more thoughts after some more time behind it. Ya, it's a speed bow, so some might be turned off right away. Myself, I wipe a clean slate with each by with no preconceptions. The new Turbo cam is a performer in every way. The higher tension loads on the cables made for a very firm backwall and the consistency pulling through the shot is outstanding, makes me not even think about having a limb stop bow. The valley is ample in my opinion and keeps you honest while maintaining the pull through the shot very repeatable. For the speed it is producing and what it has to offer, I can't think of another bow on the market that I like better. The ZT cable guard and new riser design pave the way for less pre lean needed in comparison to previous Turbo models in the past. This bow has performed flawlessly know matter what I throw at it so far. It is so repeatable with bareshafts for me, I can't think of another bow I have ever owned that has been this repeatable. Even when I go a couple weeks without shooting my personal bows, due to a busy tuning schedule with other bows, it picks right back up where it left off.

Hats of to Hoyt, for producing not your typical speed bow, this one is a true performer in speed and forgiveness.

My cousin went through a 2 month search for a new bow. This is the bow he felt was the best and it has been shooting it very well. Good to hear he made a good choice coming from a pro.

WOW! nice shooting! I love my CST ZT. I echo you thoughts on the back wall and repeatability of pulling thru the shoot, I use a hand held release and love the feeling of the shot once it goes off!

I know, it's hard for me to keep bows for any length of time but I see myself breaking that habit with this one. Speeds not a bad thing for long range shooting and it's not the end of the world if you don't have it. I feel this one for me has that total package of speed, extra KE and forgiveness. Great deign in the riser and I do like the ZT cable guard, makes for a great hold on target and a very neutral grip stance

Except in his case - it's basically his advertising cost and convinces a whole bunch of people to use him for tuning... Pretty sure he has enough experience to know where to shoot, just guessing

How long did It take you to tune it? I assume you are very good at tuning to begin with. I know two buddies that have that bow. Both had nightmares getting it tuned. I think they finally worked out whatever the issues were. Obviously some bows tune easier than others, just curious about this one. tx

My hoyt faktor turbo has took some to get tuned but it can be done. From everything I hear the nitrum is much easier.

I am literally a backyard shooter but I do take it seriously. I did make it to Vegas for my first shoot at that type of international level and placed 8th in BHFS division. Great experience and have wanted to go back, but just haven't made it happen. Sounds crazy, but I was disappointed with my performance and the reason for wanting to go back.

I would recommend it to anyone, awesome time and a very humbling experience. I don't get nervous for much but did there. Great experience for sure !

They tune very well. My tuning process with most bows will take about 2 hours from start to finish.
These tune up great ! Have done quite a few and have not seen any issues

My CST ZT tuned up great, no issues. I follow pretty much the same method as Ontarget7, set to manufactures measurements and yoke tunning with bareshafts is the best way to tune a Hoyt.

I will say that bareshaft tuning requires a consistent grip and decent form or you will get erratic results.

I also like to tune a bow when fresh, i.e. not exhausted, quick warm up and then begin the shooting process, shot several 3 shot groups (bareshaft and 2 fletched), throwing out bad shots when they occur ( if you have been shooting for awhile you will know immediately when a shoot is bad) make the appropriate yoke adjuments and shoot again ...etc...

I will like to add a little about the draw cycle. It is a speed bow and very forgiving I might add. However, if you are in the market for a new bow and you are coming from a 300-330 IBO or a 2 track with a huge valley, it will take a couple weeks for your muscle memory to adapt to the different draw cycle. The Turbo will vary peak weight longer and drop into a very nice comfortable valley towards the end. Do to it carrying peak weight longer and the transition towards the end that might give you that hump or drop feeling in the draw cycle. This is very subjective to muscle memory depending on what bow you previously owned. I have shot a lot of speed bows over the years and this is hands down the best I have had. Give it a couple weeks, after your muscle memory adapts to the change in the draw force curve, it will feel pretty darn smooth for those kind of speeds it produces.

Bottom line, I would let a couple shots determine your opinion of the draw cycle, again it can be very subjective in comparison to what you previously own. I have owned my fair share of bows to say the least and this is a keeper.

Hey Shane,

The Turbo won't fit me, but have you shot the regular 34 Nitrum or 34LD? Just wondering what the differences are between the turbo and the regular as far as feel and performance. Obviously the specs are different. I'm looking at picking up the 34LD to play around with. Thanks for any insight you may have.
