How to end NR Wyoming wilderness ban?

There is an entire Newberg podcast on understanding why Wyoming can do whatever they want. Non-residents are not stakeholders of the states wildlife trust.

The North American model never had anything to do with non-resident hunting. That was not the intent. It has everything to do with protecting wildlife as a trust for residents of that state.

You are correct NR are not stakeholders. I wasn't disagree with you...NR are just the funding mechanism.
WY can do whatever they want but sooner or later a R may have to pay $250 for an elk tag...which will never happen...

You can't limit NR opportunity/dollars, keep R license prices the same and have funding to protect wildlife as a trust for the state.

Have you spent any time in WY other than hunting know anybody there?....any talk of raising R tags prices they come unglued. $250 would only be an approx 5x increase.

Got buddy there that qualifies for the pioneer/heritage program. He pays $35, I pay $800/2k same tag. He has no problem with NR hunters..He understands funding mechanisms.

Only time I've spent there has been hunting. They're getting a bargain. I paid $50 for a resident elk tag a few years ago and had to pay $100 for my wife's this year. I know I'm getting a hell of a deal.

Yeah right. There is no state that resident hunting license could increase 400% and not see massive outrage. Any resident increase, in any state, draws complaints.

I'll let you in on a secret, all people everywhere complain about any price increase on anything, especially government related. Implying that this is unique to Wyoming resident hunters is a bit silly.

If it’s not corruption that a state restricts certain activities on federal land for a group of people that helps pay for said land all for the benefit of a lobbying group than I guess I don’t know what corruption is.

I enjoy following the laws set forth by the states that I don’t reside in therefore negating my ability to have an opinion or infringe on the tax payers in that state that elect the officials that make those laws. In other words I don’t try to change things in a state where I have no right to.
And if I don’t agree with those laws or regulations then I don’t go just as you should do with Wyoming. Boycott this corrupt state. That will show us the error of our corrupt ways.

He was in no way implying that price complaining is unique to WY. He was responding to previous post that said all Res would gladly pay NR tag prices. Which we know is false.

It's not a secret that why a brought up...obviously from your comments you agree. From a R standpoint it is a significant hurdle to limit NR opportunity.

In 2020 56.3 m generated by license revnue 77%/ 43.6M come from non resident tag/pp sales...17%/9.6M was generated by R tag sales. Another 3.2m in conservation stamps sales..both R and NR

Good luck coming up with an extra 45.2 million from resident tags to manage the states wildlife.

Like or not we are in this together...rational solutions need to be discussed not absolutes.

And you’re welcome to come here and use the wilderness. Hell, I’ll even meet you at the trail head and we can catch a lot of Brook Trout and see some cool stuff, you just can’t elk or deer hunt there. Do I benefit from that? Heck ya. As I’ve said in every dumpster fire thread about this topic that has the same cry baby arguments from NR, the wilderness restriction is the second best part of the hunting here. I can get away from guys from Louisiana who blow a bugle every step and sound like they are at a kids birthday party with a kazoo.

You should look at how much money the Feds give WY, a state with under 600k residents, the per person welfare to keep the state operating is high even if they don’t look at it that way.

I’m kinda shocked it doesn’t instate a state income tax so it isn’t so dependent on Federal aid.
