All the same, I’m done tipping. I’ll pay the prices listed as well as applicable taxes and that’s that.

Not the same. When that ain’t the system in place currently

Seems like this is your (finger point) way to skate out cheaply and claim it’s not what it is.

I hope you or your family don’t have to do jobs that are for the peasants as you claim they must be

I lived in Japan for a couple years - tipping offended them. In their culture they take pride in the work they do for the wage they receive. Some of the best service I have ever had in my life. It was so hard to come back to the US and pay tips for crappy service because that is the expectation. I would seriously rather have the tips built into the price. Hell, even now fast food joints have tip bowls. Its pretty absurd. If a guide’s motivation to get you on an animal is because of the tip, he is in the wrong line of business.

A couple years ago my buddy was guiding a Hunter and instead of tipping him cash he gave him a new pair of Swarovski 10x42 EL’s

Whoa, I’m going to stop you right there. I’ve never once referred to people in the service industry as peasants. Not once, go back and read every post and you will see I have never talked down about anybody based on their job. I have simply stated that people have the ability to get other jobs that don’t rely on customers paying their salary for their employer.

As I’ve said. Not EVERYONE.

Jobs are about simple economics (numbers), skill, and also a lot of luck and or connections.

But go ahead and blame the worker and save ya Pennies

If and when the industry would change you’d be right back here talking about the price being high.

If you agree it’s all the same leave a tip then.

The fact is you don’t want to pay workers for services, and to get away from the guilt you blaming the employees for being there.

Carry on I’m out

So then don't go to those places.

People do those jobs because they like them and there's a need.

If you don't want to tip people in the service industry, don't use their services. Otherwise you're stealing from them.

You are correct, I don’t want to pay the workers for their services. Their employer should be doing that.

No, their boss is stealing from them. It shouldn’t be on me to pay their salaries. That’s for their employer.

Then tip 50%, you'll be happy, and so will the human waiting on you.

It's the system we have, screwing someone who is just doing their job changes nothing.

Well their boss is the one screwing them by not paying a living wage and that boss is also screwing his customers by making them pay his employees. 50% tip? Nah, that’s the other thing too, now there’s an expected % that should be paid on top of the listed price and if you don’t pay enough extra money, then you’re a d-bag. It’s ridiculous.

I mean seriously if I order a few 40 dollar steaks and have a few beers or drinks, maybe an appetizer with my wife, say I’m at ~ 130.00. That waiter didn’t work any harder than a waiter who served 2 people at an Applebees on a 40 dollar tab. Why should the first waiter get a bigger tip? Because the food you bought was more expensive so you need to leave even more money? It’s flat out stupid.

If I only drink water at a restaraunt the server didn’t do any less than if I’d ordered a beer or a Diet Coke. Why should I tip more because I spent more?

Yeah, it is definitely everyone else in the world who understands the tipping convention who doesn’t get it.

Most of the rest of the world dosent tip so again, you’re off target. Try taking your emotions out of it and rather than trying to insult me, think of a rational argument.

Their boss is screwing them so I’m going to screw them on top of it. Nice plan

You could be like me and drink water so I can tip them MORE. If I see what I feel is a decent human being, working hard to support themselves I have no problem paying it forward. In fact it feels a little good to know you tried to help someone out who may not be as lucky as you. Maybe that’s why you cranky! Help people out sometime, maybe you’ll cheer up.

And nobody said you HAVE to go on %, that’s a baseline.
