Going on a sheep hunt is a big deal. You should buy at LEAST 1 new rifle leading up to the hunt to commemorate the occasion. Those Franchis seem like a great value with alot of features for the price point. Good luck and let us know how you do!

Better 4x16 scope. I have shot my brother's 6.5 and 300prc with all the trick nob stuff on it, in that 10 second moment it's confusing to me. Heck, I can hardly work my TV remote. Kiss principal.

I don’t blame you, turrets imo need a spotter, you will have a guide and your son to laser Range as you dial, but I’m still not a fan of dialing stuff in the middle of a stalk

Op, if you’re only gonna bang flop, 200 yd zero is fine. If you want to do it properly, and you bought a new gun for this, right?, Zero dead on at 100 and learn to use your dials.

I’ve owned a 270. My dad and brother still own 5 between them. We’ve loaded a bunch of bullets through them. We’ve never got that kind of velocity out of any copper bullet and a 22 inch barrel. YMMV. But, that’s been my experience.

200-300 yards is perfect 243 range. Or, 308, 30/06, 270, 260 Remington, 6mm, 280, etc.

Sheep guy-Asks complex ballistic question using .270.
RS guys- recommends getting chrono and ballistic solver app.
RS guys- Your scope sounds like the weak link in your rifle setup.

Please don’t use that scope on a sheep hunt. I owned 2, both shit the bed. One on an elk hunt, which caused a dramatic (1’ right at 100) shift in point of impact and a gut shot elk.
