How much do you all actually hunt?

Not ad much as i'd like or used to.
10 days chasing elk (+4 days traveling)
5 days on local deer, plus a weekend at a buddy's cabin.
Probably 10-15 days hunting hogs
5 or 6 days fishing.

I seem to spend more time at the range than anywhere these days. I try & get out to shoot at least a few hours every week. 90% rifle & a little bit of pistol practice.

Tags in my pocket I bet it averages to about 45 most years. That’s one or two “bigger” out of state or long in-state hunts. Plus a good bit of bird hunting close to home or a trip to the Dakotas over the holidays.

That’s not including shed hunting, fishing, scouting, etc.

Bowfishing in the spring.
Spearfishing once the water warms up.
Sept 1st archery deer begins.
Antelope in October.
Rifle deer in November.
This year maybe muzzleloader deer in December.

My wife is rock hunting everywhere we go.

My family is involved in much of this and my wife hunts with me almost always. First wife just bitched about it.

In 2020, I was out in the woods for 321 days, but hunting or trapping was roughly 100 days. I fished 120 days in 2020. I Cannot carry a gun on the clock like some of my friends can do that work in the same field.

I didn’t do any week long hunts, but I am very happy with the number of weekend I got out for this year. I probably didn’t deserve all the time I got.

My wife doesnt care about the days as she hunts too. Its more of a how much did you spend? As long as i'm around the yearly budget not a word is said ever. During local deer season my M.I.L watches my son so we both hunt. So I don't count days but i can safely say 75% of hunting season is spent with me hunting.

Between turkey, antelope, elk, deer and pheasants, I am estimating right around 75-80 days. I hunted 5 different states this year.

Actual days hunting this fall was a touch over 60, not to count probably 30ish days scouting in the summer, and a fair bit of time shed hunting in the winter and spring. I have a great wife, who likes her alone time.

I dream about hunting the days some of you do. Didn’t spend one day hunting in 2020. Two days in 2019 with about 4-5 half day scouting trips. I can’t wait to be done with my Taxidermy business so I can spend more time out in the woods and take my kids out a lot.

Tell her if she wants you to stay home, then she has to be willing to do what a wife should be willing to do if they want to keep their man home. And f**king lots of it!

This is the exact reason why I got into hunting. I've got injuries that finally disallowed me from being able to do dirtbikes like before, and MTB.

And then you add in my instance... I've got this crazy sexy wife where the surgery needed to remove a large 8cm fibroid to allow her to no longer have issues with mis-carriages like she did in her previous marriage... in order to become pregnant... ended up f**king things ALL up... making intercourse painful for her. AND... we both I'm sure figured that the act of childbirth would stretch things out and help with her pain issue... but NOPE.. they don't want someone who's had a surgery on their uterus to go thru natural childbirth... so C-section. So problem still remains.

I went from 2-3x day in previous marriage... down to *maybe*... *maybe*... 11-12 x year in this one. And one year entirely where nothing occurred just because of how pissy she got.

Sooo not cool it's not even funny. There is no such thing as spontaneity. I'm a very affectionate person.... but subconsciously this issue has also made her avoidant to affectionate behaviours as well, presumably due to subconcious fears of it progressing towards me wanting to pressure for sex. Ya know, because Duh!

So extreme frustration was the motivator for me to want to kill something to vent. But... you might even say thankfully... I learned that it just ain't that easy. But I'm not a quitter... so oh well.. I got sucked into it.

So I try to get out as much as I can all year round. I figure absence makes the heart grow fonder type of deal.. maybe she'll learn to value all that I do bring to the table. And it has worked to a large degree. And the extreme exertion certainly is beneficial in terms of distracting your mind from the depressing thought of what your reality truly is.

NOTE: only bothering to share my story because I know this type of story happens a LOT more than we all realize so I want others to know you're not alone.

Work, unfortunately takes up way too much of my time. Heck, the two days I got to go hunting in 2020 were because it was a "work event."

20-25 days spread out over 3 months. 100 days on the water though. Back in my single days I was pushing 50+ easily in the field. Wife and 3 young kids and you need to proceed with caution.

41 nights in the sleeping bag on my cot hunting, not sure how many more scouting, glad I got a good thick sleeping pad.

I don't even hunt, I just come on here to act like I do.

But for real, it's definitely over 50 days a year, and that's just limited by seasons, tags, and this year freezer space. I would hunt more if I had the tags. I cancelled a hunt in December this year because we didn't need the meat or have freezer space for it. My wife asked me every week if I was going hunting because she didn't believe me. I cannot fathom getting any sort of resistance from a significant other about doing what I'm passionate about. My wife knows I love this, and she loves nothing more than to see me living my life to the fullest. I fully support and enjoy her efforts to do the same, whatever that may mean. There is nothing more important in our marriage than seeing the other party happy, in their element. She hunts probably 7-10 days a year herself so she has some perspective on the allure. Maybe she's just glad I'm not at the bar.
